THE Launceston Greyhound Racing Club will run its regular Melbourne Cup-eve meeting at Mowbray on Monday night.

THE Launceston Greyhound Racing Club will run its regular Melbourne Cup-eve meeting at Mowbray on Monday night.

Three best-eight races are included on the 10-race program.

The highlight is the Aussie Infrared At Stud best bitches' event (race 4), where the Gary Johnson-trained Buckle Up Rose is a $3.40 favourite from box 1.

Buckle Up Rose was crowned Tasmania's sprint champion in August and the daughter of Buckle Up Wes went on to represent the state at the Nationals.

Returning to Tasmania after a stint in Victoria, Buckle Up Rose will be looking to recapture the form that has taken her to 10 wins from 50 career starts.

Headspace for Debbie Cannan (box 8) looks the danger.

The greyhound racing spotlight heads to Hobart this Thursday with the time-honoured Tasmanian Gold Cup final.

Bridwood Brianna for Anthony Bullock and Stop Line for Jillian Stamford both recorded top-class wins in their respective heats last week.

Stop Line could give Westbury-based trainer Jillian Stamford her second Gold Cup and her first for 21 years.

She was last successful with Shantung Tiger in 1997.

Stop Line recorded a best-of-the-night 25.71 from box three.

Anthony Bullock is coming off another very successful week in which he snared eight winners – four at Launceston on Monday night, one at Devonport on Tuesday and three at Hobart on Thursday night.

He also won a Gold Cup heat with Willie Win to give him two finalists.

Former Tasmanian Leeroy Rogue won the $5,250 Capalaba Cup in Queensland last Saturday week, for owner/trainer Jeff and Jane Crawford.

The greyhound will most likely return to trainer Debbie Cannan in Tasmania to contest the heats of the Group 1 Hobart Thousand later in December.
