The successful combination of owner/trainer Scott Bryan and breeder Tom Englund was the hot topic of discussion on Saturday when well-bred debutant Friday Frothies, a son of Barcia Bale, blitzed his opposition running a scorching 25.47.

The fawn sprinter dashed away to account for Jalla Jet and Buckle Up Laura by six and half lengths.

It was a red-letter day for the Barcia Bale x Miss Hetti litter as Shadows No More for Scott Bryan, and Wynburn Lily, Wynburn Mia and Wynburn Ava for Ben Englund, were also successful in qualifying for the series.

The Bryan/Englund combination have proven a good mix over the years courtesy of former Group 2 Launching Pad winner Wynburn Wizard (pictured), also including well-graded stayer and former Tasmanian Distance Championship winner Mahalo Miss.

Devonport-based trainers Robyn and Gary Johnson look set to chase there second Breeders Classic for the year, as they will load up with six chances in the four semi-finals, starting with Buckle Up Azona, recording a heat winning effort of 25.61.

The four semi-final winners and runners up will progress through to the final the following week, on Boxing Day, where the winner will take home a cool $5,050 for connections plus a breeder's bonus of $4,500 if successful.
