Midnight's On Fire For Sabotic

MIDNIGHT On Fire, described by his owner-trainer Bradley Sabotic as “so picky he will only eat steak” contributed $2900 to his hefty meat bill with a 720m win at Wentworth Park yesterday week.

Midnight On Fire took the lead from Over The Border leaving the back straight and after setting up a big lead turning for home, hung on to win by a neck.
Louis Jay Parker came with a late rush but Midnight On Fire lasted to clock 43.64sec, .03sec quicker than the James Porter-trained Double Buxton took to win the other low grade 720m event on the card.
Sabotic bred Midnight On Fire from his brood bitch Keira's Charm, whose previous litter, sired by Fancy Dean, included Midnight Mystic.
Midnight Mystic won a dozen races, including three over the WP 720m journey, but Sabotic said that at this stage Midnight On Fire was not as strong as that greyhound.
“Midnight On Fire hit a brick wall when he finished fourth over 717m at Richmond on June 8 and he got tired again tonight,” Sabotic said.
“Hopefully he will get stronger as he only turned two in February.
“There were 10 puppies in the February, 2016, Barcia Bale-Keira's Charm litter and one of them, Bago Bye Bye, is with Queensland trainer Darren Russell.
“Bago Bye Bye has won four of nine starts and apparently Darren rates him one of the fastest dogs he has trained.
“I was left with Midnight On Fire because nobody wanted him to buy him as a pup.
“He was so tall and lean, he didn't appeal to any prospective buyers.
“Midnight On Fire is a lovely natured dog but he is extremely sensitive and is also the fussiest eater I have trained.
“He will only eat steak, and that has to be sliced up and layered underneath the rest of his food.
“If I put the steak on top he eats that and leaves the rest.”
