Million Dollar Chase Qualifiers Revealed

GREYHOUND Racing NSW (GRNSW) has announced the qualifying heats and finals for the prestigious Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase.

GREYHOUND Racing NSW has announced that 16 regional tracks across New South Wales will host qualifying heats and finals for the world's richest greyhound racing series – the Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase.

The Million Dollar Chase will this year be run for the sixth time after it was introduced into the calendar in 2018 when won by Mystic Riot.

The race to the October 13 final which offers a $1 million-to-the-winner purse, will start on August 30 when Taree hosts the first set of qualifying heats.

"It's such a richly unique series in how it traverses the length and breadth of regional and rural townships in NSW – bringing the excitement of our sport far and wide into these communities – in search of the ultimate champion," GRNSW CEO Rob Macaulay said.

"Over the five years since that first Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase, we have seen so many great success stories come through the regional events, and as we had hoped, the series has in turn given the people of those regional areas, the opportunity to see some of our best dogs racing on their local tracks."

In 2023, GRNSW has announced some changes to qualifying opportunities for owners and trainers with the placegetters in the Group 1 Dapto Megastar and the Group 2 Black Top securing berths in the MDC semi-finals at Wentworth Park on October 6.

GRNSW recently announced that the Megastar Final will this year be run on September 7 and the Black Top Final has been moved to September 22.

"We feel the scheduling – plus the added lure of an MDC semi-final berth – will see increased interest particularly from interstate in both of these group races," Macaulay said.

Apart from the first three placegetters in the Megastar and the Black Top securing berths in the semi-finals, the winners, runners-up and third placegetters in each of the other 14 regional qualifying finals will also advance to the semi-finals.

Semi-final invitations will also be issued to the first four placegetters in the National Sprint Championship final in Melbourne on August 26, the last 12 semi-final berths will be up for grabs in the City Qualifiers at Wentworth Park on September 30.

Should the Nationals' invitees decline the invitation, additional spots will become available for the City Qualifiers.

The full schedule for Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase Grand Final night has also been locked in.

The support races will be the Sydney Cup, the Masters Meteor, the MDC Maiden, the Young Star – and consolations of the MDC, MDC Maiden and Young Star as well as Richmond to Wenty and Gardens to Wenty Finals.

Here is each of the races that will qualify for the MDC semi finals.
