Monster Offer Refused For Top Launching Pad Seed

CONNECTIONS of Canya All Class have refused an eye-watering offer ahead of his Launching Pad bid which gets underway on Thursday.

CONNECTIONS of Canya All Class have refused an eye-watering six figure offer for the boom pup ahead of his Group 3 Launching Pad assault which gets underway at Sandown Park on Thursday night.

The gifted son of Shima Shine and Spritely Ebony has created a huge impression in his eight start career for trainer Jess Hopkins, winning on six occasions in breathtaking fashion, including a last start 29.23 romp at Sandown Park.

It was following that thumping last start success that a consortium from NSW made an audacious bid to purchase the 23-month old powerhouse but following deliberation between the ownership group the approach was ultimately rejected.

"We discussed it as a group but we were ultimately unanimous in respectfully declining the offer," said syndicate manager Nick Lalli.

"Yes it was a decent size offer but at the end of the day dogs like Ralph (kennel name) don't come along every day and as owners we are just looking forward to seeing where he takes us.

"There's some terrific races around worth very good money and when we weighed it all up we just want to keep having the fun we're having and Jess is doing a sensational job with him.

"The world's his oyster really."

With more than $500,000 in prize money up for grabs during the lucrative Launching Pad series, connections will be striving for an immediate return when Canya All Class steps out in heat six from box seven on Thursday night.

The pre-post series favourite is $1.90 to win his heat and progress one step closer to the $150,000-to-the-winner final slated for March 28.

"The draw isn't great but he did win three starts back at The Meadows off the seven in fast time," Lalli said.

"I've had a lot of dogs and some very good ones too but this dog is different. He's just a ferocious chaser but he's got good track sense as well. He's the full package.

"He really is like a freight train. His run home times tell you he'll get further but at the moment everything is about just taking things slow and letting him learn in his own time.

"The Launching Pad has been the target for a while now so we are just looking forward to that before we decide what's next.

"We've had a few offers from slot holders for The Sandgroper in Perth next month but we've knocked that idea back.

"We just want him to grow up first."

While Canya All Class looms as Lalli's number one seed in the Launching Pad he will also be represented by Paying Dividends (heat five), On High Alert (heat seven) and Canya Inferno (heat eight).

"Paying Dividends and On High Alert (Zambora Brockie x Nangar Mia) are from the first litter I've bred which is pretty exciting," he added.

"Hopefully it's a good night and they all get their chance."
