Welcome to Neds Friday Night Lightning, an exciting new racing series aimed at bringing people back to the track, and ensuring that Wentworth Park becomes the popular Friday night destination.

Neds Friday Night Lightning Series 01 – which will launch on March 15 and run across five consecutive Friday nights – will become the ideal way to kick-start the weekend, with patrons able to make the short trip to Wenty, and unwind from a hard week's work in the city or suburbs.

The series will be supported by a vast range of off-track entertainment at the Glebe circuit each week, while the racing focus will be the "Big Dash of the Dogs"- exciting, competitive events over the 280m sprint distance.

Neds Friday Night Lights will be run, won and done, each 280m sprint race over in 16 seconds, the entire race card completed in under three hours, and a plethora of activities to entertain patrons between events, with the action far from restricted to the loam.

And it will be entertaining too for participants, with GRNSW offering $10,000 in incentives to trainers across the series.

Each Friday evening, points will be awarded in every 280m race held, from eight points to the winner, through to one point to the trainer of the eighth placed greyhound. Points will be accumulated across the five weeks, with an updated, live leader board available on thedogs.com.au website after each meeting.

At the culmination of the series, the leading three trainers will share the $10,000 in prizemoney -$7,000 to the leading trainer, $2,000 to second place and $1,000 to third.

The "Party at the Park" theme will see an on-course DJ pumping out the tunes, a money can't buy experience of spending the night in the Lightning Hot-Tub, table tennis, a mechanical bull, pin ball machines, GAP greyhounds on track, an Instagram photo booth, food and drink offers, additional food trucks, a big screen featuring Sky Racing and live NRL during the night, and the unique opportunity to win the chance to sing the National Anthem.

"It's a brand new exciting concept: 10 races, in less than three hours, a focus on the 280m sprint events, with a lot of fun, music, and plenty of off course activities, with the idea of bringing a new crowd to greyhound racing on a Friday night," GRNSW Chief Executive Tony Mestrov said.

"The figures show that the 18-35 year olds are embracing our sport, and this is a good opportunity for them to come out, have a look, and make a night out of it."

Neds Friday Night Lightning Series 01 will be held at Wentworth Park on March 15, March 22, March 29, April 5 and April 12.
