THE countdown is well and truly on to the staging of this year's Richmond Riches Puppy Auction, with nominations closing for the Ladbrokes-sponsored event this Friday, September 21.

Set to be staged on Sunday, November 25 – where some of the country's best bred pups will go under the hammer – well over a 100 nominations have already been penciled in for this year's Auction, a terrific response as the industry continues to work through what's been a turbulent few years on the breeding landscape.

"We are really pleased with the response we've received given the circumstances over the past few years and we're looking forward to a huge day, showcasing our wonderful industry in the best possible light," said Richmond Secretary Chris Carl.

"Whilst the quantity of lots is there and building, the quality is also there, which means some fantastic opportunities will present on the day for new owners and syndicates to get involved in the industry. In many respects that is why the Club has been so driven to continue the Richmond Riches concept with the ongoing support of Ladbrokes."

Quickly establishing itself as a vital part of the Australian greyhound racing landscape since its inception in 2014, the Richmond Riches Puppy Auction has unearthed some of the stars of the sprinting ranks in recent years, led of course by Group 1 winners Mister Twister and Thirty Talks, each victors of their respective Richmond Riches series'.

The Richmond Riches is again this year backed by major industry sponsor Ladbrokes, who continue to make a profound investment in the development of NSW greyhound racing across all tiers.

"The Richmond Race Club couldn't be any more thankful for Ladbrokes' support – it is essential to the ongoing staging of the Richmond Riches which is so important to the industry," declared Carl earlier this week.

In a huge shot in the arm for the Auction, some of the sport's best-credentialed sires will be heavily represented on the day, with sire of the moment Fernando Bale, Barcia Bale, Dyna Double One, Collision and My Bro Fabio just some of the stud dogs to feature in the catalogue.

"There looks be a terrific mix across the lots we've received so far and the quality of brood bitch is there also which only adds to the amount of confidence prospective owners can have on the day," added Carl.

"The Richmond Riches has really established a brand of its own and I encourage breeders from right around the country to get their nominations in by Friday's closing date so they don't miss out."
