Allkel To Excel Excelling At Stud

LATE in 2014 when Allkel To Excel was about to make his race debut for trainer Kel Greenough, the youngster was on “a hiding to nothing”.

That's because the son of Elite State-Kingsbrae Di by Solver The Puzzle was attempting to follow in the footsteps of his illustrious older full brother Paw Licking.

And what shoes he had to fill. Paw Licking started 54 times for 32 wins and 14 placings earning $430,000 in stakes for owner Allan Lang and trainer Greenough. Along the way he was a multiple Group winner and track record breaker.

Allkel To Excel certainly had the task ahead of him.

In 16 race starts, Allkel To Excel won 14 and was second twice for $84,000 in stakes.

He was, to say the least, “a rocket” just like his older full brother.

Along the way he ran track records at Warrnambool and Healesville.

The latter was an 18.80 performance which happened to be in the Group 2 Healesville Cup … and what a performance it was.

Chasing him home that day in September 2015, was Kayda Shae (11 wins, $200,000), Shared Bonus (44 wins, $153,000), La Grand Logie (29 wins, $115,000), Senor Grumpy (12 wins, $21,000), Pud (10 wins, $30,000), Billo's Pick (19 wins, $52,000) and Ronray Spirit (26 2wins, $177,000).

In all, the seven rivals bested by Allkel To Excel in that Group 2 final won 151 races and earned $75,0000 in stakes.

It was indeed a performance of which to boast.

And in track record time to boot.

Allkel To Excel was a flying machine who burst off his rivals within a few strides.

He came from a repeat mating of Elite State and Kingsbrae Di that contained six named offspring and all were winners. The litter also included the classy Kingsbrae Lavina and Metro Man. In all, those six offspring won 83 races and earned $200,260 in stakes. And who says repeat matings do not work.

Every one of Kingsbrae Di's named progeny was a winner from six different litters.

Allkel To Excel has been given his chance at stud and from just two litters to race, he is already the sire of Typhoon To Excel (5 wins, $10,000), Salute To Excel (6 wins), Zest To Excel (4 wins) and Gust To Excel (6 wins). His oldest of those two litters has just turn two.

His full brother Paw Licking has been at stud much longer and is punching well above his weight with some excellent results. Therein lies a guide to mate Allkel To Excel at stud.

And, he ranks ahead of the much vaunted Oaks Road, Bella Infrared, Dyna Villa, Brett Lee, Black Magic Opal, SH Avatar, Kelsos Fusileer etc.

Allkel To Excel has a very interesting pedigree. He is devoid of the bloodlines of Brett Lee. His direct damline is that of legend half brothers Acacia Park and Brother Fox.

He has a cross of Little Denver (sire of his third dam) a family that does exceptionally well when reinforced within itself.

Little Denver's sister National Dingaan is in the direct damline of Magic Sprite and Oaks Road.

Solve The Puzzle's dam Magic Riddle is saturated with the blood of famed Princess Diro and this is a family found heavily influenced in the pedigree of Bombastic Shiraz's dam.

Star Title, sire of Allkel To Excel's second dam, is a SON of Rapid Supreme who is found significantly placed in the pedigree of Where's Pedro and Hallucinate.

The Brindle County damline, of which Allkel To Excel is one of the very best offspring, has always done exceptionally well when linked to Surf Lorian. And, he too has done well when linked up to Elite State. Don't Knocka Him is bred on this cross.

The brilliantly fast Weekend Binge, a Group winner, is by El Grand Senor (a fabulous broodbitch sire) from Kingsbrae Di and thus a half brother to Allkel To Excel.
