Zipping Remus Begins MDC Assault In Style

STAR youngster Zipping Remus bounced back from a heavy fall at Goulburn on Friday to win his heat of the Million Dollar Chase regional series at Maitland (450m) on Monday night.

And, Minnie Finn promptly declared him as good as any greyhound to have gone through the famous Finn kennels.

The son of Feral Franky and Zipping Tayla scored by a length and three-quarters at Maitland in 24.86 beating Twin Turbo and Fernando Rocker.

It was his 11th win in just 18 starts.

Minnie and John  Finn have some “unfinished business” in regards to the Million Dollar Chase.

They were beaten a half head in last year's final with Zipping Kyrgios behind McInerney.

“It's not very far to be beaten for a million dollars,” lamented Minnie.

“But, Zipping Remus is a very good young dog.

“He was just going to the front at Goulburn and fell. He ended up with a little bit of skin off a toe.

“He was fine to back up last night.”

If Zipping Remus qualifies for the MDC semis at Wentworth Park, he will have a freshen up before heading towards that race.

“We will miss the Black Top with him and give him that freshen up,” she said.

“He was in lots of trouble at his last Wenty start early in August when another dog broke down in the race. He loves the track, but we will need to take him back there for a look.”

Minnie said Zipping Remus would be taken along slowly but would head to Victoria for the G1 Melbourne Cup carnival after the Million Dollar Chase carnival.

In just 18 race starts he has already won the G1 Vic Peters, finished third in the G3 Magic Maiden and been a finalist in the G2 Flying Amy Classic at Albion Park and the Southern Stars at Goulburn.

The other Maitland MDC heat went to Sue Smith's My Shepherd in 25.42 narrowly over Buzz Junkie and Zipping Orlando.
