AWAY Game stretches to 520m racing at Albion Park on Thursday night and the winner of five of her six starts appears the standout in a 5th Grade.

No, the daughter of Flying Fired Up-Agame was not named by her owner/trainer Angela Brown after the superstar racehorse of the 2020s.

That Away Game won five of her 26 starts and $3.7 million, winning the Magic Millions and being runner-up in the Golden Slipper. She was later sold as a broodmare for $4 million.

“The naming of the bitch had everything to do with her mother's name and nothing to do with the racehorse,” said Angela's partner Peter McBlane.

“It wasn't until we got her name back that we realised there was a racehorse of the same name.”

The canine Away Game is from a fabulous litter bred by Peter and Angela, or as he likes to call them “Team Taigum”.

“We are a couple of old pensioners having a bit of fun,” said Peter of his and Angela's venture in breeding.

Away Game will make her 520m debut on Thursday night

The litter also includes the classy Brimstone (7 wins, $60,000), Icy Eyes (6 wins, $44,000) and Mahuika (6 wins, $32,000).

Away Game comes into Thursday night's 5th Grade off six starts, her latest five over 395m.

Her latest outing saw her win in a flying 22.50 on September 13.

“No we have not had time to trial her over the 520 metres,” said Peter.

“But, the rest of the litter all runs 520 metres and we are confident some will get 700 metres.”

Peter said the final 50m could be a testing time for Away Game but he and Angela are confident the bitch will be hard to beat.

“It is a litter we bred, and we bred it out of the square, being by the US dog Flying Fired Up,” he said.

“We bought into this line through Bishops Lass, paid $2000 for her, mainly because we wanted a bitch by Surf Lorian to breed with.

“She won one race. Her mother Hardy Bale was a litter sister to Easter Egg winner Gregorieva Bale.”

Peter and Angela line bred Bishop's Lass to Primo Uno and the Wheeler bloodlines, then outcrossed the daughter Agame to Flying Fired Up.

“We bought a straw to Sennachie for Agame, but a couple of days later bought one for Flying Fired Up and used that first on this litter,” said Peter. “We kept them all to race and they have won $184,000.”

Peter and Angela plan to mate Agame when she next comes on season in the New Year.
