Beck And Call On Target For Young Guns

BECK And Call resumed from a break when a sensational winner last weekend and on Sunday steps up to a Young Guns series as a key hope.

BECK And Call resumed from an enforced three months break with a toe injury when a sensational 19.39 winner at Capalaba last weekend and on Sunday steps up to a Young Guns series as one of the great chances.

The son of Bekim Bale-High Class Belle tore a ligament on the side of a toe and breeder, owner and trainer Christine Bourke at Ebenezer battled to get the dog over it.

FIELDS AND FORM CAPALABA SUNDAY

“It seemed to take ages to come right, but he is over it now,” said Christine.

Beck And Call is possessed on un limited ability as his career record of 11 starts for eight wins proves.

His 19.39 win last weekend was not unexpected by Christine.

“I'd been galloping him up the Chubb Street straight near Ipswich and he and his litter brother are among the very few dogs able to break 12 seconds up there,” she said.

“He has not been back to the circle since he went back into work. I decided to target this race with him.”

The Bekim Bale-High Class Belle litter are all targeting the series.

Christine also has Don't Tell Helen, winner of six of nine at Capalaba, in the series, while good friend Greg Mellen has three of the litter taking on the heats, Mosin Nagant winner of four of eight at Capalaba, Biscuit Roller, four wins at Capalaba, and Quite The Man, two wins at the track, also running.

Quite The Man takes on boom galloper Black Comanche a winner up Capalaba in 19.36.

Christine said she had worked Beck And Call up her own straight during the week in preparation for Sunday's heat and he had pulled up great after the win the week before.

“The toe is holding up good,” she said.

Beck And Call has drawn the three.

“It doesn't matter where he draws because he can be slow out but he loves the track and will be hard to beat,” she said.

Beck And Call is also a winner in 30.58 around Ipswich.
