“Best Ever” Trial Has Louis Set For MDC Assault

A “best ever” trial at Casino on Monday has Louis Rumble on target to launch his Million Dollar Chase assault at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

A "best ever" trial at Casino on Monday morning has star sprinter Louis Rumble on target to launch his TAB Million Dollar Chase assault at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

The prolific winning son of Fernando Bale will exit box eight in the first of six MDC city qualifiers where it is expected that first, second and third will progress through to next Friday's eight cutthroat semi-finals.

FIELDS AND FORM WENTWORTH PARK SATURDAY NIGHT

The assignment will be Louis Rumble's first since trainer Steve Kavanagh admitted to being left searching for answers following his Ipswich Cup winner's fifth placed finish in the Group 1 Golden Easter Egg Final a fortnight ago.

After beginning brilliantly to lead from box one, the 27-time winner carved out a career best 5.39 first split, before losing the first turn hopelessly and providing a saloon passage for eventual winner She's A Pearl to race away for victory.

"Two weeks later I'm still scratching my head as to what he did at the corner because it's totally out of character for him," Kavanagh said.

"The first thought was that he obviously sustained an injury but I've gone right over him and there's not an issue. I was keen to give him a trial at Casino to make sure and with the way he went he's on song.

"He trialled the quickest he ever has there over the short trip and with Casino constantly turning it will find out an injury. As far as I can see we are on target for Saturday night."

Louis Rumble will exit box eight in an opening city qualifier that boasts greyhounds the caliber of Adelaide Cup winner Do It (box two) and Brisbane Cup hero Equalizer (box three).

TAB Fixed Odds have Louis Rumble at $4.80 in an open market where the favourite at $3.50 is Zara's Ivan (box one) which heads into the race off an eye-catching fourth placed finish in the recent Golden Easter Egg.

"Box eight isn't what you'd pick if you were given the choice but if he steps cleanly he should get himself right into the race," Kavanagh said.

"And if he leads I guess we'll see what he does at that first turn. He's never looked like losing the turn at Wenty before in all his starts there so it's hard to say what happened.

"Was it a mental thing? Was he just going too fast from the inside? Anyway it's in the past now so we'll just look forward to this week.

"But there is a bit of caution there in the mind after that hiccup. It's hard when you can't explain it."

The star attraction of Saturday night's six city qualifiers is the appearance of Victorian superstar Wow She's Fast in race eight.

Drawn box seven, TAB Fixed Odds have installed the Jackie Greenough-trained flyer as a $1.75 favourite to maintain her winning rampage.

The daughter of My Bro Fabio had her first look at Wentworth Park on Tuesday night when trialling in smart fashion.
