Bobby Shows Brute Force At Dapto

BABY of the field Bobby The Brute takes a decided time advantage into Thursday's Maiden Final at Dapto recording a sizzling 29.64 in his heat victory.

BABY of the field Bobby The Brute takes a decided time advantage into Thursday night's Beteasy Maiden Final (520m) at Dapto following the 19-month old's electrifying 29.64 heat romp last Thursday week, the final postponed a week due to last week's torrential rain.

Scoring by an ever-increasing 9 ½ lengths, Bobby The Brute couldn't have been more impressive at his Dapto debut for in-form Wedderburn trainer Tim Caines, the 27 year old conditioner riding the crest of a winning wave, tasting victory with nine of his past 11 runners.

"He's shown a lot of ability right from break-in," declared Caines of Bobby The Brute, placed at each of his three appearances leading into last Thursday week's flying Dapto maiden success.

Bobby The Brute – a regally bred son of Kc And All and She's Scandalous – has drawn box four for Thursday night's $10,000 to-the-winner finale, his sizzling 29.64 qualifying time some five tenths faster than his nearest rival on the clock.

"The time didn't overly surprise me after he led, he runs time anywhere you take him. The main thing last week was that he got the start right … which he'll need to do again on Thursday," Caines added.

"His runs early on at Goulburn where good but those races were always going to be a bit short for him, it's hard to get 500 maiden races so we decided to kick him off there. The further he goes the better he gets, he's very strong.

"I wanted the inside with him in the final so the four's not that bad. There's some dogs in the race with really good ability as well so he'll need to come out.

"He's not a dog that has heaps of early speed but he can come out running – hopefully he does again in the final. Because he's so strong he hasn't had a big week, he'll be nice and fresh."

Last Thursday week's opening heat almost had to be seen to be believed with the Michelle Sultana-trained Zipping Browny turning in a herculean performance on debut to land the prize in 30.48.

While the time was slow, the manner in which the son of My Bro Fabio won was nothing short of extraordinary. The second qualifier brought up a litter and kennel double with Zipping Phil successful in 30.21.

With the third heat going the way of a rampaging Bobby The Brute, the final qualifier was taken out by Bethany Rose for Christine Proctor in 30.33, defeating Cousin Niall, a son of Cosmic Rumble and Golden Easter Egg runner-up Lagoon Jazzy, by a length.

In what promises to be a spirited finale, litter-brothers Zipping Browny and Zipping Phil, sons of My Bro Fabio and Zipping Midge, have drawn boxes two and six respectively, while remaining heat winner Bethany Rose will exit box four.

The Jodie Lord-trained El Rapido has drawn the rails following her two-length second in the heats and from the good draw can give plenty of cheek for the premiership leading trainer.
