Boltalz's ‘Speedy' Gardens Record Run

SPEEDY Boltalz returned from a month off to record a track record breaking 272 metre victory at Ladbrokes Gardens on Friday afternoon.

INJURY plagued chaser Speedy Boltalz returned from a month on the sidelines to record a track record breaking 272 metre victory at Ladbrokes Gardens on Friday afternoon.

Lining up for just his 18th race start on Friday, the rising four year old son of Fernando Bale was simply awesome, scoring by 3 ¼ lengths to set the new time-standard of 15.42.

"You name an injury, this dog has had it," said his trainer Rob Tyler following the win.

"He's nearly four and has only had 18 starts – he's a very fast dog but it's just been a matter of being patient and taking our time with him. He can really run, as we saw on Friday."

Friday's track record run ended an exasperating run of placings for the son of Fernando Bale.

"He's always thereabouts – when I got him from Melbourne early on he had some dramas we had to iron out," Tyler explained.

"He's had two broken toes and two split webbings on two different feet, he's spent plenty of time in the casualty ward here at home."

Tyler is looking forward to a big week with his powerhouse chaser Zipping Truvy set to take her place in Friday night's Young Star Classic Final (520m) at Wentworth Park.

The daughter of Zulu Zeus – a sister to Zipping Garth – returned to racing in last week's Young Star heats with a barnstorming second to Blue Summer Sky.

"She's crying out for longer now but this race was a good place to start her off," Tyler added.

"Box six in the final isn't ideal – she'll need luck – but if the breaks go her way she'll be charging home. She's ready to go further now."

Tyler has fond memories of Million Dollar Chase Final night having annexed the Regional Reward Final (520m) last year with his Group 3 Christmas Gift hero Modus Operandi.

"I've got some nice young ones on the way through so hopefully we can look forward to a good few months," Tyler added.

"I performance trialled some smart young ones for the Hallinans at Richmond last Wednesday which I have high hopes for and some good young ones showing promise."
