Bolwell Proud Of Home-Bred Youngster

SOUTH-COAST breeder-owner Jason Bolwell reckons a lowly maiden at Nowra on Monday night was as good as winning any group race.

That's because Stilton Corky, who showed blistering box speed to lead throughout to win a 365 metre maiden in 20.80, is a home-bred Bolwell youngster.

“He's by my great old dog Stilton Blue from a bitch called Stilton Gold who I raced to win four at Wentworth Park,” said Jason.

“I've told everyone who will listen this maiden win is as good as any big race victory I've had with Ada Mary.”

Stilton Corky is the first starter for Jason's former NSW country greyhound of the year Stilton Blue, a son of Where's Pedro, who won the G3 Nowra Puppy Classic, was second in the Bulli Gold Cup and a finalist in the G1 Peter Mosman.

Donna Carter trains Stilton Corky for Jason and she often handled dogs for Stilton Blue's trainer Phil Goodsell.

“This pup still has to show he can run 500 metres, but he is brilliant out of the boxes and that is going to be a big thing in his favour,” said Jason.

“You cannot imagine my excitement at him winning. A home-grown winner is something else.

“And, his father is available to use at stud at $1100.”
