Box Draws: NSW Take Origin Advantage

NSW hold all the aces heading into Thursday night’s State of Origin Sprint (520m) after fairing by far the better in Monday’s crucial box draw.

New South Wales hold all the aces heading into Thursday night's State of Origin Sprint (520m) after fairing by far the better in Monday's crucial box draw.

Zipping Kyrgios, winner at Dubbo on Saturday night in equal track record time, has drawn box one while reigning Million Dollar Chase winner Handsome Prince, a first up Albion Park winner last Thursday, will exit box two.

Rounding out NSW's four pronged attack on the $60,000 event is two-time Group 1 winner Wow in box four while Incapacited has drawn box eight.

Following Monday's box draw, Tab.com.au installed Wow $3 favourite for the event ahead of Zipping Kyrgios at $4.60 and Incapacitated $4.80.

Handsome Prince is considered a $6 chance while betting suggests the best of Queensland's chances is Richmond Oaks winner Crazy Cool at $5.50.

Drawn box seven, the prolific Albion Park winner leads the Queensland contingent with Farmor Beach (box three), Orchestrate (box five) and Limited Edition (box six) all double figure odds.

Betting for the State of Origin Distance (710m) is headed by Queensland star Maggie Moo Moo, installed a solid $3 favourite from box two for trainer Darren Johnstone.

Holding second place in betting is Zipping Niseko, the last start Dashing Corsair winner drawing box one where she'll represent NSW, despite being trained by champion Queensland trainer Tony Brett.

Rounding out Queensland's distance hopefuls are Pump It (box three), Smart Lilly (box six), Micks Recall (box seven) and Classy Ethics (box eight) while the NSW contingent is Barsandi (box four), Prim And Proper (box five) and Classy Ethics (box eight).

The Origin Match Race Sprint (520m) box draw saw Queensland representative Extra Malt draw box one while NSW juggernaut Jungle Deuce will exit box three.

Trainer Jack Smith is eyeing consecutive Origin Match Race sprint wins following Feral Franky's heroic exploits in 2019.

Betting for the match class sees Jungle Deuce at $1.30 with Extra Malt at $3.50.
