Brad's Field Of Bracelet Dreams

BRAD Field will raise the bar with lightly-raced prospect Sunrise Flame after she passed the biggest test of her short career in last weekend's heats of the Group 3 Evans & Son Jeweller Ladies Bracelet at Wentworth Park.

Sunrise Flame improved her record to six from 12 when she railed strongly in the home straight to run down odds-on favourite Little Jebrynah in her heat of the $25,000 to-the-winner Bracelet, scoring by a head in 29.87sec.

It was the daughter of Irish Derby winner College Causeway's second straight sub-30 victory at Wentworth Park, after she came from behind to beat multiple record breaker Pindari Express in 29.73sec at her previous start.

"She's still a baby but she'd shown previously that she had some ability, in her trials, her maiden win at The Gardens (29.69sec) and when she ran down Pindari Express," Field said.

"Going into the Bracelet heats I honestly didn't know if she was up to the class but she showed me she can compete with the really good dogs.

"In my own mind I thought she had the ability but it's one thing thinking it and it's another thing knowing it. Down the track I think she'll get 600m and hopefully 700m."

While Field, who only has three dogs in work at East Gresford in the Hunter, was thrilled to see Sunrise Flame qualify for Saturday night's prestigious Bracelet Final, he's certainly not getting carried away.

Golden Easter Egg heroine Zipping Bailey, a daughter of trainer Jason Mackay's 2014 Bracelet winner Zipping Willow, set the pace in the heats, clocking 29.59sec, her fourth straight victory at the Glebe circuit.

Despite drawing box five, Zipping Bailey is the $3.00 TAB favourite, with Sunrise Flame a $15 outsider from box six.

"The box doesn't help and you've got to be realistic," Field said.

"If Sunrise Flame can run a decent race and get around safely I'll be over the moon.

"This is definitely the hardest race she's been in but I could have said the same thing last week.

"She hasn't had a lot of experience around Wentworth Park but she's getting the hang of it and she's beginning a bit better now than when she first started racing down there."
