Brisbane Cup Winner Gets Late MDC Call Up

QLD GOTY front runner Orchestrate gets a chance to cement himself as a genuine MDC hope after getting a start in Friday's semi-finals.

QUEENSLAND'S greyhound of the year front runner, Orchestrate, gets his chance to cement himself a genuine Million Dollar Chase final hope after getting a start in Friday night's semi-finals.

The son of Barcia Bale-Speculate has drawn the rails after Analysing had to be scratched from the third semi.

“It is great to still be in there with a chance in such a wonderful race series,” said breeder and part-owner Tom Kinnear.

Orchestrate, from Tony Brett's kennel in Queensland, has been in Sydney with Jason Magri in the lead-up to the series but started favourite when only third to Father Rick in the heat last week in 30.74.

Kinnear admits he was disappointed with the run, but expects his dog to improve in tonight's semis.

“He didn't begin as well as he can and he is a dog who likes to have a clear run early,” he said. “But, didn't run on as well in the straight as I would have hoped.”

Kinnear is based in Sydney and went to Wentworth Park for the race last week.

“I can't wait to get there for the semis,” he said.

“How exciting is it to be in contention for a spot to run for a million dollars.”

Orchestrate, even though his best form at Albion Park is off a wide draw, is well placed off the rails in the MDC semi.

He comes up against fastest heat winner Zipping Alabama who went a scorching 29.36 last week off the same box three.

Coast Model, who chased home kennelmate She's A Pearl when second in the MDC final back in May, comes off the eight box in the same semi.
