TALENTED stayer Ziggy Stardust will look to end an exasperating run of 17 outs when he plummets in class at Wentworth Park on Wednesday night.

The son of Fabregas was last in the winner's list back in April when downing a top grade field at headquarters over the 720 metre journey in a neat 42.46.

FIELDS AND FORM WENTWORTH PARK WEDNESDAY NIGHT

Two starts later the 11-time victor finished third in the Group 3 Gold Cup (720m) before contesting the world's richest staying event, ‘The 715', at The Gardens in June.

Trainer Adam Campton has been counting down the days until his charge was eligible for a return to fifth grade company and is hopeful the class drop will pay immediate dividends on Wednesday night.

"Even at his best he's still four or five lengths off the top stayers so the drop in grade has been what I've been waiting for," Campton said.

"He's been racing really well in better races but placing a dog like him is difficult; trying to get the right race for him up in grade.

"Wednesday night looks like a nice race for him even though he's drawn badly in box six. If he can win and get some confidence up it gives me some decisions to make going forward."

Three starts ago Ziggy Stardust finished fourth behind star conveyance Zipping Kansas but while well beaten, he ran 42.15, his quickest time at the venue.

"I haven't had the clock on him outside of his races but his work at home has been great, I can't fault him," Campton added.

"The main thing for Wednesday night is that he has some luck early and gets into the race. Having not won for a while he just needs that confidence.

"Depending on how he goes will decide whether I head to the Sydney Cup or not."

Ziggy Stardust – in the money at 10 of his 13 starts at Wentworth Park over the 720m – will tackle race seven from box six.

Meanwhile, race three on the card will see unbeaten rocket Zipping Orlando step out from box one for trainers of the moment John and Melinda Finn.

Victorious at each of his five starts, Zipping Orlando ran a slashing 29.53 two starts ago, a time that many predict he is capable of lowering on a decent surface on Wednesday night.
