Country Cups On The Agenda For Casual Glance

TRAINER Michelle Lill has an ambitious country cups campaign mapped out for her exciting sprinter Casual Glance following the greyhound's record smashing performance at Gosford on Tuesday night.

Chasing his 12th win in 19 starts, Casual Glance began brilliantly and led throughout before stopping the clock in an extraordinary 21.74, shattering the previous record of 21.85.

“When he came out so well I knew he was going to run time,” Lill said.

“I bred Casual Glance but sold him as a pup and he is owned by two couples.

“Eventually I will get him to Wenty Park but he only turned two in October and the plan is to take him to Gunnedah for heats of the Armidale Cup over 431m on December 3.

“The final is a week later and then I intend to nominate him for the Wauchope Cup heats over 457m on January 2.”

Casual Glance has won up to 440m so the 457m at Wauchope should not trouble him, especially as Lill commented: “Wauchope is a roomy track like Maitland and Casual Glance goes well there.”

Final of the Wauchope Cup, worth $15,000 to the winner, is programmed for January 6.

“Seeing Casual Glance break the record was extra special because he is the great grandson of Special Sauce, the foundation bitch of our breeding line.”

Special Sauce was a prolific winner and a dual 520m WP winner while her daughter Thickness won five races and produced Ness Quick, winner of 10 races and the dam of Casual Glance.

A year ago Ness Quick whelped to Fast Times, producing just one bitch puppy.
