Cropduster To Reap Westcha$e Spoils

PETER Cameron’s successful affinity with blue greyhounds is set to reap rewards.

PETER Cameron's successful affinity with blue greyhounds is set to reap the Western Australian owner his second feature victory in as many weeks in Saturday night's lucrative Listed Greyhounds WA The Westcha$e at Cannington.

Last Friday Cameron crossed the continent to cheer Vanderworp, which he part-owns with a syndicate of old school friends, to victory in the Group 2 Bendigo Cup and on Saturday he'll be back home with an excellent chance in the $19,950 to-the-winner Westcha$e in Cropduster.

Trained by Paul Stuart, Cropduster, which like Vanderworp is blue in colour, is a March '16 daughter of KC And All and Sialia, and has won eight of her 17 starts, highlighted by the Group 2 WA Oaks in May.

Cropduster produced the standout performance in last Saturday's three heats of the WA-bred Westcha$e, leading all-the-way from box five in the opening heat in a best of night 29.91, her fifth win from her last six starts at the Perth venue.

"Not everyone likes blue dogs but I've had a few good ones. I picked Vanderworp out of a paddock of eight because he was the only blue one!" Peter Cameron explained.

"Cropduster isn't as brilliant as Vanderworp but she's a great little bitch. She tries her heart out and she's very consistent. I think she's broken 30 seconds at Cannington seven times now.

"If she draws inside for Saturday night's final she'll be a really good chance.

"We've also bought Vanderworp's brother from High Recall's next litter to Fernando Bale. He's blue too and they're very closely related because Vanderworp's sire Kelsos Fusileer is Fernando Bale's father. He's coming up to 12 months old now and he looks very similar to Vanderworp."
