Eagle Ready To Rock In Super Series Final

EAGLE Rock will look to put an exclamation mark on the fantastic start to his career with victory in Tuesday's Super Series Final (515m) at Gosford.

POWERHOUSE youngster Eagle Rock will look to put an exclamation mark on the fantastic start to his career with victory in Tuesday night's Ladbrokes Super Series Final (515m) at Gosford.

But to do so the fashionably bred son of Barcia Bale and Megalodon will need to overcome fellow rising stars Star Hotel and Vamos Penny to claim the $7,500-to-the-winner decider.

A stylish 29.51 heat winner last Tuesday, Eagle Rock made it four wins from seven appearances at his Gosford debut to power into the finale for breeder-owner-trainer Lynne Aldous.

"Last week was his first run out of the 515m boxes at Gosford so I was very really happy with the run," Aldous said.

"He'd trialled there over the shorter distance and went very well and I think the noisy lure at Gosford suits him as well. If he does everything right early and gets through that first corner alright he should run a good race."

Eagle Rock's sharp rise to prominence has been mirrored by his fellow siblings which have won 14 of their 24 starts to date.

They include Kristy Sultana's exceptionally talented Flying Ricciardo, facing the starter on seven occasions for five best of meeting wins and a further two seconds.

"We get such a thrill watching the whole litter race," Aldous said.

"We couldn't be prouder with how they've all started and the fun everyone is having. Megalodon was actually served by Aston Dee Bee last week and there will be some for sale. Living where we live in suburbia means we can only keep a few in work at a time."

Megalodon was a marvelous money-spinner for the Aldous family during her racing days, winning 18 of her 46 starts and $60,000 in stakes.

And if the early exploits of her first pups are any indication, the daughter of former Queensland champ Glen Gallon may well have a greater influence off the track than she did on.

Adding even further merit to the litter's dazzling early deeds is that they don't turn two until December.

"We've got two others from the litter that haven't raced yet either," Aldous said.

"They've had a few issues here and there but because they're so young we are in no rush with them at all.”

If Eagle Rock is to land Tuesday's Super Series Final at Gosford he'll need to overcome promising up and comers Star Hotel and Vamos Penny.

Star Hotel, a son of Aston Dee Bee, won his heat for Peter Tobin in 29.69, while Vamos Penny, a daughter of Fernando Bale and Chica Destacada, set the tone for the series with a slashing 29.47 heat win for Kerry Drynan.

"They are both very good dogs so our dog can't make a mistake," Aldous said.

"The main thing is that he gets his chance early. He's very puppyish at home but in races he's showing good field sense. He'll need that on Tuesday from box five."
