Flynn "100/1" To Start In Maitland MDC Final

JASON Mackay's powerhouse chaser Flynn is "100/1" to contest Thursday's Maitland qualifier of the TAB Million Dollar Chase.

FORMER Victorian chaser Flynn is long odds to contest Thursday's Maitland final of the TAB Million Dollar Chase, all but ending the powerhouse chaser's claims on this year's $1 million to-the-winner series.

An eye-catching length fourth to Black Forge in the second of last week's Million Dollar Chase qualifiers at Maitland, trainer Jason Mackay told the Recorder on Monday that the hugely talented son of Kinloch Brae is "100/1" to contest Thursday's final.

"I gave him the weekend to see if there was any improvement but he's come out of last week no good and he's still on three legs this (Monday) morning – he's a 100/1 for Thursday," said a dejected Mackay.

Winner at eight of his 18 starts in Victoria before shifting to Mackay's Richmond Vale kennels to prepare for a tilt at the $1 million to-the-winner series, the expected scratching of Flynn from Thursday's blockbuster final will see Mackay represented solely by Flying Bazza, a fast finishing second to Hardaway Titan in last week's heats.

Flynn's scratching from the final opens the door for second reserve Willoughby to gain a start for Warren and Jill Harper.

First in line to gain a start was Mackay's Golden Easter Egg winner Zipping Bailey, the daughter of Barcia Bale retired to the breeding barn after pulling up injured following last week's heats.

The box draw for the final is: 1 No Rules 2 Flying Bazza 3 Double Mack 4 Cee Jay's Boy 5 Flynn 6 Ronny 7 Hardaway Titan 8 Black Forge 9 Zipping Bailey 10 Willoughby.
