TOP flight brood bitch My Lady Day has whelped her fifth and final litter to stud dog on the rise, dual group 1 winner Hooked On Scotch.

TOP flight brood bitch My Lady Day has whelped her fifth and final litter to stud dog on the rise Hooked On Scotch.

"She whelped a litter of nine just a few days ago – six dogs and three bitches," said Ron Marsden.

"I was really keen to go back to the Barcia Bale line with her after having so much success with her first litter.

"And her fourth litter is by Barcia Bale as well, they are eight months old and look magnificent types.

"So to go to a son of Barcia Bale in Hooked On Scotch that had so much ability and was only lightly raced made a lot of sense.

"I'm really looking forward to seeing how they progress. Couldn't be happier."

To date, progeny of My Lady Day have raced 505 times for 151 wins and 140 placings at the top winning strike-rate of 30 percent.

"She's been a fantastic brood and hopefully the best is still ahead," Marsden said.

"I was talking to Hooked On Scotch's owner Darren Puleio and let him know there's four black dogs, a black bitch, a blue brindle dog, a blue dog and two blue bitches.

"When the time comes we'll sell half the litter I'd say – that's the plan at the moment."

The whelping of My Lady Day continues what's been a busy time for Hooked On Scotch which this time last year was gearing up for his Melbourne Cup assault, finishing a courageous third in the final.

Just last week the two-time group 1 winner was responsible for a litter of eight pups, four dogs and four bitches, to David Pringle's former crack bitch Midnight Dare.

Midnight Dare, a daughter of Buck Fever and Midnight Capers, won eight races of her injury curtailed 15 start career, including a flying 29.55 Wentworth Park success and 29.17 Sandown Park run.
