Group 1 Winner Heads Fernando's Way

DAVID Brasch brings us up to speed with everything going on in the breeding world, including the news Group 1 winner Elevated has been served by Fernando Bale.

VICTORIAN Harry Manolitsis is an ex-harness man who raced Group 1 stars in that industry.

But these days he is a converted dog man and enjoying even more success with greyhounds.

Moreira won the Golden Easter Egg for him when trained by Jason Thompson.

Then Harry took up the lead and collar and produced Elevated (Bella Infrared-Outlandish by Collision) to win the Group 1 Sapphire Crown. She was also second in the Shepparton Cup and a finalist in the Warragul Cup and Speed Star.

Elevated has just been mated to champion sire Fernando Bale (Kelsos Fusileer-Chloe Allen).

Elevated came from a fabulous litter that also included Azkaban (26 wins, 22 placings, $155,000), Feikuai Donna (13 wins, $43,000) and Unmistakable (12 wins, 10 placings, $36,000) etc. Azkaban has been a multiple Group performer, a finalist in the inaugural $1 million Chase, G1 Super Stayers, G2 Cranbourne Cup and McKenna Memorial.

Outlandish's previous litter, to Black Magic Opal, produced Bewildering (17 wins, 8 placings, $247,000), Extreme Magic (17 wins, 15 placings, $121,000) and Jet Hawk (6 wins, 14 placings, $20,000).

Bewildering won the G2 Warrnambool Classic, G3 Speed Star, G3 Silver Bullet and is a multiple Group placegetter and finalist, five of them being at G1 level. He is now at stud. Extreme Magic ran the track record at Traralgon, was group 1 placed, and a multiple group placegetter and finalist.

Want a Fernando Bale-Elevated pup? Well, come armed to Harry's doorstep with a very big cheque book. There are numerous proven crosses being picked up in this pedigree.

RON Murch is sitting on a goldmine.

Ron is the owner of Rhonda Rocks (Kinloch Brae-Punk Rock Lass) the winner in fast time of a maiden at Angle Park from just two race starts.

Rhonda Rocks is due to whelp any day a repeat mating to Fernando Bale and Ron is anxiously awaiting the result.

And why wouldn't he!

The first litter of Fernando Bale-Rhonda Rocks' produced current sprint superstar Sennachie (G1 Maturity, G1 Brisbane Cup, Albion Park TR, G2 Qld Derby).

But, Sennachie is no one hit wonder.

All his littermates can gallop, so much so that they have raced 146 times, winning 62 and being placed another 44 times for $608,000 in stakes. So far.

Rhonda Rocks, a litter sister to group star Angie Rocks, has a litter by My Bro Fabio about to start racing and another to Barcia Bale whelped late last year.

Yes, Ron will sell some of the Fernando Bale-Rhonda Rocks pups at weaning in three months time.

Again … bring the cheque book. A big one!

CHRIS Georgiou up in Queensland has been living a dream in recent years with the progeny of Queen Of Cyprus (Pure Octane-Cheeky Sprite) the half sister to champion Queen Lauryn.

Queen Of Cyprus has produced litters to Barcia Bale, Collision, Cosmic Rumble and Magic Sprite and all of them have come up with classy city performers and a smattering of Group performers.

One of those, the Cosmic Rumble bitch Alpha Nemesis has just been mated to former scorching sprinter Zinzan Brooke (Knocka Norris-All Fired Up).

It makes sense.

Because, although Alpha Nemesis was third in the Group 2 Laurels at Sandown, she was also a very strong bitch who raced successfully over 700m in the latter stages of her career.

And, she was a litter sister to Alpha Demeter (20 wins, $106,000) and Alpha Hermes (20 wins, $78,000) both quality gallopers.

ANTHONY McVicker has been pretty adept at breeding a good race dog.

His standout has been Group 1 star Unlawful Entry (Knocka Norris-She Ain't Late) the Hobart 1000 winner and Sandown track record holder. He was a multiple Group 1 finalist.

Anthony has just whelped a litter of eight pups by Fernando Bale-Kissing Carter.

The dam is by Mogambo-She Ain't Late, a half-sister to Unlawful Entry.

Kissing Carter won nine races at Wentworth Park, Maitland, Gosford, The Gardens and Albion Park.

Mogambo daughters have already done extremely well to Fernando Bale.

Littermates Little Digger and Off The Leash are bred on this cross.

FORMER Victorian Group class galloper Lemon Sunrise has just been mated to recently retired star My Redeemer.

Lemon Sunrise (Kinloch Brae-Harbour Gift) won the Top Cat Video at The Meadows, was second in the G2 Launceston Cup and a finalist in the G3 Devonport Cup.

She came from a litter that also included Group class Bring Sexy Back and Unaffordable.

Daniel Evans now has the bitch at stud in Queensland and her first litter, by Cutting Edge, is about to start racing in Tasmania.

The My Redeemer mating will be interesting. It links Kinloch Brae's damline with Where's Pedro a cross that produced champion Destini Fireball.

REPEAT matings … love 'em or hate 'em!

Evidence shows they really do work, but try telling that to some breeders.

Norma Dacey's wonderful Paw Licking-Dayseas Astra litter includes Corykodi (33 wins, $133,000) winner of the G3 Devonport Cup and numerous feature races.

But, that litter had seven named offspring and all were prolific winners.

They included Love The Look (16 wins, $31,000), Nikki Nettle (10 wins, $48,000) and Power Service (17 wins, $40,000).

In all, they have won 107 races and $311,000.

Now Dayseas Astra has been mated back to Paw Licking, a service done in June and due to whelp soon.

SUPERSTAR Orson Allen might have only just retired to stud after a glorious race career, but he has already been busy on the stud scene.

The Wheeler family have mated their classy bitch Folio Bale (Taylors Sky-Zambola Bale) to win and are expecting a litter any day.

Folio Bale won 11 of her 60 starts and earned $93,000. She was second in the G1 Sapphire Crown.

Putting her to Orson Bale will continue a successful theme the Wheeler family has utilised in the past. It is Gold Rush Bale to Collision that produced champion Dyna Tron, and Go Wild Teddy to Zambola Bale that produced G1 winner Ollie Bale.
