Hasten Slowly Books Winter Cup Berth

HASTEN Slowly passed his test, and did it with flying colours.
The son of Fernando Bale-Heidi Go Seek won the Group 3 Flying Amy Classic (520m) at Albion Park last Thursday night in a scorching 29.77 for Angela Langston and her mum Sue Smith.
He took his record to 27 starts for 11 wins and $170,000 in stakes with the victory by seven and a quarter lengths over dead heaters Velocity Charm and Hara's Honey.
Angela said the Classic was a test for Hasten Slowly in preparation for the Group 1 Winter Cup at Albion Park.
“We were going to have to trial him anyway, so this race came up right at the right time,” she said. “He is Free For All back in Melbourne so this was perfect for him.”
Hasten Slowly was bred and reared by Angela and her mum Sue.
“We raced the mother Heidi Go Seek who was city class in Melbourne and a super chaser,” said Angela.
It was a stellar night for the litter with three winners on the night, Hasten Slowly at Albion Park, Aldrich at Hobart and Go Seek Fernando at Sandown. Only a few weeks ago, littermate Go Seek Heidi finished second to Elevated in the Group 1 Sapphire Crown.
Back in March, Hasten Slowly finished second to Hecton Bale in the Group 1 Australian Cup.
Heidi Go Seek now has a litter 12 months old by Barcia Bale.
Angela said her mother Sue, who lives in Toowoomba, is happy to watch her dogs on TV.
“She's got three retired old broodbitches rising 14 or so, and mum is reluctant to leave them,” said Angela. “One of them is Jean Jeannie.”
While Hasten Slowly cemented his place in the Winter Cup heats at Albion Park, so did Mepunga Blazer who trialled last Thursday night in a flying 29.78.
He is on the comeback trail after a brief stint at stud.
“And he is absolutely flying,” said Angela.
