Hurst In Hospital Following Trial Mishap

FRANK Hurst is recovering in hospital following a serious trial mishap at Richmond on Saturday.

“He's pretty banged up but he's going to be okay,” said Frank's wife Tracey on Tuesday.

“From what I've worked out he was slipping a dog and when he's gone to throw the squeaker the string it's attached to got caught around his hand and didn't go anywhere. The dog has then run straight into Frank because of it.”

At the time of the incident Tracey was holidaying with friends in Bali and only found out about what had occurred late Sunday evening.

“Their heart was in the right place not telling me straight away and luckily I was due to come home Monday anyway”, Tracey added.

“My son told me on Sunday night and said don't panic, the second someone says don't panic it's the first thing you do.”

The extent of the injuries will see Frank on the road to recovery for a while yet.

“He's suffered a broken collar bone and he's going to need a full elbow replacement because of it as well,” Tracey said.

“He should be coming home in the next day or so  – the surgery on his elbow is a five hour operation which will be next week.

“The amount of well wishers he's had has been fantastic.”
