MULTIPLE Group 1 winner Jarick Bale comes into Saturday night's Group 3 Destini Fireball (730m) at The Meadows drawn to suit.

But trainer Mark Delbridge believes Jarick Bale (Allen Deed-Houston Bale) should have run quicker at his distance debut at The Meadows in a heat last week to be a “good thing” in the final.

“He went 43.15 and I thought he should have broken 43 for sure,” said Delbridge.

Jarick Bale, winner of the Group 1 Sale Cup and Rookie Rebel and second in the Group 1 Sandown Cup, has been a star of the Delbridge kennel with earnings of $411,000.

“I'd like to have another one like him in the kennel and about two years old,” said Mark.

The Delbridge kennel had to restrict operations when a virus hit some weeks back and Mark says he has only been in full operation for the past week or so.

“I've been trialling dogs everywhere to get them fit again,” he said.

“Jarick is fine and rates a great chance. off the eight.

“He won his heat of the Sandown Cup off the pink and then ran second in the final from the same box.

“That draw won't worry him.”

But he rates Jarick Bale's half brother, exciting youngster Rohan Bale (by Feral Franky), the one to beat. Rohan Bale is trained by Daniel Gibbons and is part of a very promising litter.

“Our hope is if Rohan Bale gets cluttered up early,” said Mark. “He's a very smart and promising young stayer.”

Jarick and Rohan are half brothers to the former Delbridge kennel star Christo Bale (by Barcia Bale) the winner of 29 races and $219,000.

“This is a hard race at The Meadows,” said Mark. “Jarick has his chance.”
