Kyrgios Dealt Heavy Blow Ahead Of Flying Amy

MINNIE and John Finn are scratching their heads wondering when their kennel star Zipping Kyrgios is going to draw and inside box.

MINNIE and John Finn are scratching their heads wondering when kennel star Zipping Kyrgios is going to draw an inside box.

Minnie is loading up the car and heading to Albion Park on Thursday night with three runners, two for the Group 2 Flying Amy Classic (520m) and one for the Listed Dashing Corsair (710m).

Zipping Kyrgios (Aussie Infrared-Zipping Lilly) leads the charge and he is in fabulous form coming off a win in the Bob Payne Sprint at Wentworth Park three runs back and a last start third to Jungle Deuce in the Brother Fox Dubbo Cup.

But, the Finns are lamenting his box eight draw in heat five.

“He just can't draw an inside box and that's what he needs,” Finn said.

“He didn't have a lot of luck at Dubbo copping a couple of checks in running.

“But Albion Park is a bigger track and a longer run to the first turn which will suit him.”

The Finns will also run Zipping Ontario (Superior Panama-Zipping Katelyn) in the Flying Amy Classic and the promising youngster has drawn box three in the first heat coming up against Super Estrella, Modern Talking, Jungle Deuce and Oliver Keeping.

“He is a very promising young dog but we are carting him around to get experience,” Minnie said.

“He went great at Dubbo behind Miss Ezmae but the tight track didn't really suit him there.

“Once he settles down he could be a very good dog.

“The big roomy track at Albion Park will suit him.”

Zipping Ontario won on debut at Wentworth Park in 29.78 back in April.

The kennel will also be represented by stayer Dylan's Magic (Fernando Bale-Avondale Queen) in the heats of the Dashing Corsair (710m).

“His run to win at Wenty the other night was good,” Finn added.

“And he has drawn well at Albion Park off the rails.”

Dylan's Magic spent 11 months on the sidelines after breaking a hock in May last year at Richmond but has come back to near his best.

The Brisbane Club will be gloating with the response to the Flying Amy Classic with other stars as Qwara Bale, Extra Malt, Orchestrate, Irinka Riley, Louis Rumble, Do It, Impact, Mr Fix It, Lakeview Walter and Lakeview Cruiser chasing the Group 2 event worth $75,000-to-the-winner next week.

“We will keep coming up to Albion Park with Zipping Kyrgios chasing the State Of Origin and then the Brisbane Cup as well,” Finn added.
