Stars Set To Launch At Sandown

THE fields have been released for Thursday night's Sandown Park program, featuring eight heats of the lucrative Launching Pad Series (515m).

The sweepstakes event, where 64 tickets are sold at $2,000 apiece, will see a whopping $432,000 in prizemoney distributed across the next three weeks of racing, headed by the $150,000 to-the-winner final on Thursday, April 18.

With a cool $7,000 awaiting connections of the eight heat winners this Thursday, more than what the Golden Easter Egg winners will take home at Wentworth Park on Saturday night, next week's semi-finals boast $10,000 for first, while the following week's Launching Pad consolation carries a cool $15,000 to-the-winner.

With some supremely gifted chasers drawn to contest Thursday night's heats, fast times will undoubtedly be the order of the night, with the headline act the appearance of the Harry Manolitsis-trained Flynn in heat four (box four).

Winner at six of his eight starts, the son of Kinloch Brae broke Fernando Bale's Bendigo 425m track record at just his fifth race start, before going on to annex the Western Districts Derby at Ballarat in emphatic fashion at his most recent appearance in mid-February.

Lining up against the prodigious talent this Thursday is the Peter Lagogiane-trained Double Back, the last start 29.67 Sandown Park winner joining kennelmate Federal Impact (heat 1, box 1) in the series, the sons of Dyna Double One out to deliver the Llandilo conditioner back-to-back Launching Pad victories, following Beast Unleashed's mesmerizing triumph in 2018.

On a night of fantastic racing, just a few of the notable entries include Leon Bale (heat one), Dolly Mac & Sennachie (heat five), Street Outlaw & Curt Lee (heat six), Red Rock & Kiss Me Linda (heat seven) and Rockstar Prince and Seal The Deal (heat eight).
