Louis Rumble Drawn To Order For Young Guns

"THAT will help," was what Steve Kavanagh said after Louis Rumble came up with the rails for next Saturday night's Ipswich Young Guns (520m).

“THAT will help,” was what Steve Kavanagh said after his classy Louis Rumble came up with the coveted rails draw for next Saturday night's rich Ipswich Young Guns final (520m).

Louis Rumble (Fernando Bale-Joyce Rumble) ran 30.59 to win his heat of the Young Guns on Saturday night to make yet another feature race final for his owner-breeder-trainer.

“He didn't come out as good as I would have liked,” Kavanagh said.

“The inside draw will help him in the final.

“He's not particularly strong at the finish but his first two sections are something.

“He's just a really nice dog.”

Kavanagh was not at Ipswich for the heats.

Louis Rumble's dam Joyce Rumble was whelping one dog and three bitches on Saturday to her mating to Pindari Express and Steve stayed on the Northern Rivers with her.

Mick Lalicz took the dog to Ipswich.

None of the Joyce Rumble pups will be for sale.

Of the final, Kavanagh believes Out Of Champagne, a 30.63 heat winner, will be the hardest to beat off the two box.

But he also gives Andrew Monaghan-trained Magic Prince, fastest heat winner at 30.52, a great chance.

“I've been watching him lately go around Grafton and he's a pretty smart dog,” Kavanagh added.

It was also Magic Prince's first run at Ipswich.

The other Young Guns' heat winner was I'm Explosive for Robert Ayres which ran 30.62.

Ipswich Young Guns (520m): 1 Louis Rumble, 2 Out Of Champagne, 3 Pokie Payout, 4 Bold Hornet, 5 I'm Explosive, 6 Nando Sid, 7 Magic Prince, 8 Katanti. Res: 9 Merchant Navy, 10 Where's The Star.
