Neo Cleo Installed Hume Cup Favourite

Recent 595-metre Traralgon track record holder Neo Cleo has been installed as the $3.30 favourite to take out Monday week's Group 1 Hume Cup final at The Meadows.

The daughter of Cosmic Rumble and Ruby Ha Ha was narrowly defeated by Dyna Yezza in Saturday night's heat, working hard from out in box eight before going down by a neck in 34.37. The loss ended a four-race winning streak for the black chaser, who will start from box four in the $110,000 final on Melbourne Cup eve.

Trainer Andrea Dailly will go into the final with a two-pronged attack, with Dyna Yezza being joined by Lila Bale, who lit up The Meadows on Saturday night after a sensational all-the-way 34.02 win. The brindle daughter of Fernando Bale and Searle Bale recorded electric splits of 8.87 and 21.78 on her way to her Best of Night performance – less than two lengths behind Dyna Double One's track record, set in 2016. Lila Bale – a $4.20 chance with TAB – will start from box six in the Group 1 classic.

Interstate greyhounds will again be well represented in a Group final after Zipping Bailey (NSW) and Magic Hornet (QLD) won their respective heats to progress to the $75,000-to-the-winner final.

Zipping Bailey was too strong from Blackjack Neo in 34.69 and will start from box one in the final, while Magic Hornet will jump from box two after her all-the-way 34.58 victory for trainer Ray Burman – who enjoyed a memorable weekend after Champagne Sally took out the Group 2 Stayers Topgun.

There's a huge night of family entertainment planned for The Meadows in one of the busiest evenings at the Broadmeadows circuit. The night will also see the running of the Group 3 Silver Bullet over 525 metres.
