Orlando Out Of Qld Cup, Huge Future For Strop

STAYING star Zipping Orlando will not return to Albion Park for the heats of the Group 1 Queensland Cup (710m) this Thursday night.

STAYING star Zipping Orlando will not return to Albion Park for the heats of the Group 1 Queensland Cup (710m) this Thursday night.

Minnie Finn said this today of the son of Zipping Garth-Zipping Dharma which was disappointing when leading and fading to last of four in the Group 3 Super Stayers Invitational (710m) at Albion Park last Thursday night.

“He's had too much travelling for now so he will not go back for the Cup,” said Minnie today.

“In the past few months he's been out to Dubbo, three trips to The Gardens, four trips to Melbourne and then four weeks to Brisbane.

“That's enough for him for now.”

Zipping Orlando has been in spectacular form winning the G1 Association Cup, The 715 and the Group 3 Carnival Chase in recent months.

“He will head back to Wenty and we will probably sprint him to freshen him up,” said Minnie.

“He is only a young dog with a long future ahead of him.”

Minnie was still on a high today after the performance of Zipping Strop (Flying Ricciardo-Zipping Lilly) to run the best of the night at Richmond on Sunday in a 520m maiden.

He ran 29.34 to win by almost seven lengths in a truly dashing display.

It was his third race start and Minnie predicts he could be a future staying star.

“He could run in a 600 metre next week he is that strong,” she said.

“In his first two starts he was knocked rotten at the start and then again in the run.

“That's why he went straight to a 520 metre this week.

“He is one of the strongest dogs we have ever had.

“But, he can be a bit temperamental. He has lots of ability and will keep getting better and better.”

Zipping Strop is a half-brother to superstars Zipping Kyrgios (by Aussie Infrared) and Zipping Maserati (by Zipping Garth).

Minnie also reports Zipping Kyrgios (33 wins, $598,000) will be available for stud work in the next few weeks.

“He has been registered and done all the tests needed, I just need to get him collected now,” said Minnie.

Zipping Kyrgios won the G2 Black Top, G2 Gosford Cup, G3 Payne Sprint, the Country Classic, was second in a Million Dollar Chase, G2 Black Top, third in a G2 Richmond Derby, G2 Golden Sands, G3 Xmas Cheer, Dubbo Cup and a finalist in the G1 Golden Easter Egg, G1 Topgun twice, G1 Dapto Megastar, G1 Gold Bullion and G1 Temlee.

Minnie also confirmed she and John are looking to buy a property at the Gold Coast, a holiday home, where they can run a small kennel while campaigning in the future at Albion Park and at the new track at Purga, near Ipswich.
