Patty Primed For Australian Cup

RESURGENT heat winner Dyna Patty will lead Andrea Dailly’s bid for a fifth Australian Cup title when she joins kennelmate and litter-brother Dyna Oscar in Saturday night’s $250,000 to-the-winner group 1 final (525m) at The Meadows.

RESURGENT heat winner Dyna Patty will lead Andrea Dailly's bid for a fifth Australian Cup title when she joins kennelmate and litter-brother Dyna Oscar in Saturday night's $250,000 to-the-winner group 1 final (525m) at The Meadows.

Returning from a month on the sidelines to tackle the fourth Australian Cup heat last Saturday night, Dyna Patty, winner of the Group 1 Maturity Classic at The Meadows last June, returned to her brilliant best, carving out a hugely impressive 29.67 victory.

"She wasn't racing anywhere near her best so we gave her a month off, they're not machines and the break has done her good, they all have their ups and downs," said co-trainer George Dailly on Thursday.

Drawn box one for Saturday night's Australian Cup Final, Dyna Patty's career earnings will spiral to the half-a-million dollar mark with victory, at the same time delivering Team Dailly a fifth triumph in The Meadows' flagship event.

"It only seems like five minutes ago Dyna Lachlan won the cup – we must be getting old!" reflected Dailly.

"Patty's got box one but now she has to use it. If she comes out and holds out the pressure from the outside then she's right in the race – but she's got to use the box.

"Her brother Dyna Oscar is tarred with the same brush in a lot of ways, he's been smashed around in his races lately but got the right run on Saturday.

“Being realistic though he's going to find it much harder in the final from the draw."

Bet365 currently has Dyna Patty a $4.20 second elect from box one, while Dyna Oscar is the rank outsider at $34.00 from box three.

The duo is by Fernando Bale out of Unix Bale, the champion sire boasting half the field for Saturday night's Australian Cup Final, also laying claim to multiple group 1 winners My Redeemer and Deliver.

Victory by one of the four will deliver Fernando Bale back-to-back Australian Cup wins as a sire, following Hecton Bale's success in 2018.
