RACING Queensland is confident that it has headed off a problem after it is believed five police shut down trialling at Ipswich this morning.

It is understood the police response to trialling came about after a Gold Coast greyhound trainer was routinely stopped this morning.

When quizzed by police where the trainer had been he said trialling greyhounds at Ipswich Showgrounds.

Police then consulted Disaster Management and checked if the trainer’s movements contravened the Health Act and the Health Department’s recommendations.

The shutdown of trialling at Ipswich came soon after.

A RQ source said the state racing governing body has approvals to race and trial.

Discussions with the state government since this morning’s incident are, according to the source, working towards the problem being resolved.

“RQ is confident the situation was a misunderstanding,” the source said.
