Middle Distance Clash Highlights Meadows Card

A mouthwatering middle distance clash featuring group 1 winner True Detective is one of the highlights at The Meadows this Saturday night.

A mouthwatering middle distance clash highlights racing at The Meadows this Saturday night.

The sixth race of the night sees reigning Group 1 Hume Cup winner True Detective pitted up against Launching Pad winner Tauwitchere and Sandown Cup runner-up Ella Enchanted.

FIELDS, FORM & BEST PRICES

In a wide open betting race, Tauwitchere (7) holds favouritism at $3.70 for in-form trainer Steve White, just ahead of Ella Enchanted (3) at $3.80 for Jamie Ennis.

True Detective, winner over the 725 metres last Saturday night, is quoted at the generous odds of $5 after drawing precariously in box six.

Race eight of the night – a free for all over the 525 metres – sees four-time group 1 runner-up Black Opium take her place from the coveted rails alley.

Quoted $1.75, the daughter of Black Magic Opal went close to the Sale 520 metre track record last time out and in brilliant form, will prove awfully hard to beat tonight.

There to keep her honest is Australian Cup winner Fernando's Riot at $2.80 from his box two draw, while Aston Cade, a finalist in the Australian Cup, has his admirers at $5.50 from box four.

Our best bet of the night is You Tell Me for trainer Kel Greenough in race 10.

Drawn nicely in box two, the daughter of Fernando Bale plummets in grade for tonight's assignment, with the $2.60 on offer more than generous.
