Ready To Rock! Gr8 Eight Highlights Sandown Card

BOOM young stayer He Shall Power gives away both age and experience to each of his rivals when he steps out in tonight's Gr8 Eight showcase event (715m) at Sandown Park.

But that hasn't stopped punters rallying around the powerhouse galloper for tonight's $10,000 to-the-winner feature, currently a firm $4.60 second favourite behind dual group 1 winner True Detective at $2.50.

The hugely exciting He Shall Power has contested three Sandown Park 715m events in his relatively brief 19 start career, finishing second in a heat of the group 1 Sandown Cup before running a spectacular third in the final a week later.

Last Thursday, the son of Dundee Osprey was sent out a $1.80 favourite in a race he was expected to win, and despite looking a forlorn hope mid race, unleashed a whirlwind finish to storm home and score comfortably.

Tonight's assignment however is vastly different, boasting the creme de la creme of the Australian staying ranks with half the field victorious at group 1 level.

Sitting up in box one is True Detective, the son of Black Magic Opal victorious at eight of his 10 starts when wearing the cherry.

Also engaged is champion half-miler Tornado Tears, joined by his younger half-brother Here's Tears, which boasts the Sandown track record beside his name at a startling 41.16. 

Throw in the immensely talented Blazing Cartier and 2019 Sandown Cup hero Rajasthan and everything points towards a cracking fifth event tonight at Sandown.

The first gets away at 5.59pm with the last of 12 events scheduled for just after 10pm.
