Regal Recall's Record Breaking Run

Catch up on the weekend of racing that was, led by Regal Recall's Ipswich track record breaking performance, while Poco Dorado continues on her merry winning way at Wenty, taking out her heat of the Group 3 Gold Cup on Saturday...

THE Tony Brett-trained Regal Recall lowered Bubble Guppy's Ipswich 431m time-standard with a track record breaking run at the circuit on Friday.

Beginning brilliantly from box two, the son of Barcia Bale and Regal Lauyrn stormed away for a 10 ¼ length victory in 24.54, shaving 3/100ths off Bubble Guppy's previous record.

Winner at 13 of his 30 starts, Regal Recall has been in spectacular form for Tony Brett and owner Len Antonio, winning six of his past eight appearances, the other two outings eye-catching seconds when an odds-on favourite.

Brett and Antonio of course raced star performer Thirty Talks as well as Regal Recall's dam Regal Lauryn, the 21-race winner a daughter of champion Queen Lauryn, also trained by Brett (raced by Steve Hawkins) to multiple group 1 successes during her glittering career.

Wheel-er Fortune At The Meadows

TEAM Wheeler enjoyed a night out at The Meadows on Saturday, boasting six of the 12 winners.

Responsible for breeding the trifecta in Saturday night's Group 1 Perth Cup at Cannington courtesy of Orson Allen, Hecton Bale and Dyna Patty, the same feat Godolphin accomplished earlier that day in the Golden Slipper At Rosehill, Andrea Dailly won five of the events at The Meadows, while Samantha Ferguson claimed the other.

As well as the six winners, Wheeler-owned greyhounds provided 13 of the 36 placings for the evening, continuing what's been a real purple patch for the breeding giants.

Poco Chasing More Wenty ‘Gold'

POCO Dorado will be eyeing yet another feature distance event at Wentworth Park when she steps out in Saturday night's Group 3 Gold Cup Final (720m).

Set to start favourite for the $25,000 to-the-winner event, where she's joined in the race by littermates Blue Moon Rising (box 3), Veloce Nero (box 5) and Two Times Twice (box 8), Poco Dorado has drawn box two for Saturday night's final, the same draw she had on the weekend landing her heat in 42.15.

Incidentally, her litter-sister Veloce Nero – the only one of the quartet still searching for a group race win – went faster in her heat posting 41.99, defeating Group 2 Summer Plate winner Double Gee by 2 ¼ lengths.

Already a winner of the Group 3 Sydney Cup and Summer Cups at headquarters, Saturday night's assignment will be Poco Dorado's (Fernando Bale x Chica Destacada) 11th group race finale for John and Minnie Finn, with a tilt at the upcoming Association Cup – against Tornado Tears – fast approaching.

The box draw for Saturday night's Wentworth Park Gold Cup is: 1 Boom Down 2 Poco Dorado 3 Blue Moon Rising 4 Double Gee 5 Veloce Nero 6 Kihael Road 7 Little Digger 8 Two Times Twice with reserves Rockstar Kerr and Ebby Ripper.

Uncontrolled Looks a New Sensation!

BOB McColm's exciting juvenile Uncontrolled took another giant stride forward with a sizzling 29.30 Ladbrokes Gardens victory on Friday.

Appearing a prime candidate for the upcoming Group 3 New Sensation Series at Wentworth Park, the son of Magic Sprite and Slick Exit made it four wins from five outings with Friday's stirring win, the litter enjoying a great start to their careers, winning 10 of their 21 starts.

Already a sharp city winner, expect to see Uncontrolled at Wentworth Park over the Easter Carnival.

Presutto's Near Perfect Weekend

DEVON Meadows trainer Peter Presutto enjoyed a terrific 48 hours over the weekend, leading in three winners from his four starters, including another third.

At The Meadows on Saturday night, Veracity was a smart 30.17 winner for Presutto while on the same program, the talented Uprising finished third.

At Sandown on Sunday, Priority Pass, a sister to Black Opium, was a top 29.60 winner for the kennel before Vital Force ran the hands off the clock in the final event of the day, the son of High Earner posting 29.36.

A decent weekend in anyone's language!
