Respectability Returns Home Hours After Win

TRAINER Mick Patterson was at Reg Gardoll's doorstep first thing on Monday morning to collect Respectability and plan his immediate future.

MICK Patterson was at Reg Gardoll's doorstep first thing on Monday morning to collect Respectability and plan his immediate future.

Iluka-based Patterson got his trainer's license back at midnight on Sunday, just a few hours after Respectability (Raw Ability-Fay's Magic) had led throughout to win a top grade (660m) at Grafton.

He scored by almost six lengths over Me And You in 38.42.

“Reg has done a good job with the dog,” said Mick of his great friend.

Plans for Respectability centre around a run at Grafton in a Middle Distance feature on Saturday night and then a possible tilt at the heats of the G1 Queensland Cup (710m) at Albion Park the following Thursday night.

“He will go back to Grafton this Saturday,” said Mick.

“If it had been a Sunday meeting, I might have been a bit reluctant, but the Saturday gives him an extra day for recovery.

“He will have to go good at Grafton to warrant a run in the Group 1 heats at Albion Park.”

Patterson admitted he was a little concerned Respectability was getting tired at the end of the 660m at Grafton on Sunday night.

“His run home could have been better,” said Mick.

“But, I expect that to toughen him up and next weekend's run should top him off.

“The Albion Park campaign all depends on how he runs at Grafton.”

Respectability “pulled up great” after his Sunday night win.

He has now started 31 times for 11 wins and five placings earning $81,000.

He has been a high class race dog all his career.

“Of course there is always the Grafton Stayers Cup coming up during the July Carnival to suit him as well,” said Mick.
