Scene Set For Epic Golden Ticket Clash

SHARYN Jackson was happy to just be in the 16 runners in the four heats of the Group 3 Golden Ticket on Thursday night with Springtime Jet.

SHARYN Jackson was happy to just be in the 16 runners in the four heats of the Group 3 Golden Ticket at Albion Park on Thursday night with her classy Springtime Jet.

But now she is drawn to clash with Respectability as one of the two quickest heat winners when they clash next Thursday night in the final of the unique series.

And, a bonus to win that is direct entry into the Group 1 Gold Bullion final at Albion Park on February 2.

Sharyn's Springtime Jet scorched to an almost six lengths win in his heat on Thursday night running 29.68 after reeling off early sectionals of 5.59 and 17.05.

That compares better than her rival next week, fastest heat winner Respectability, which went 5.55, 17.12 but got home much quicker to win in 29.59.

“It was such a big thrill just to be among the best 16 to run in the heats last night,” said Sharyn today.

“He had to get across the field from the seven last night which he did.

“It's wonderful to get through to the finals.”

Springtime Jet (Fernando Bale-Springtime Girl) has now won 15 races and earned $83,000.

He has already been third in the QGOLD Summer Sprint and a finalist ion the Qld Flame.

He was given to Sharyn by her mum Jean Hose.

“Mum is 81 and has decided to retire from training,” said Sharyn.

Of next week's final, Sharyn is hoping for “good weather” but realises anything can happen in racing.

“I noticed Jet went quicker early than Respectability,” she said.

“But, he was very strong home.

“Anything can happen in those four finals and some of the other dogs in the two-dog finals have gone exceptionally fast in the past.”

Springtime Jet downed WA visitor Throttle.

Mick and Selena Zammit's Jay Is Jay came from last to win his heat in 30.01 over Yahiro Bale.

Respectability led throughout off the rails to beat Shipwreck in 29.59 by four and a half lengths.

Tony Zammit's De Ferran ran his quickest 29.80 when winning by almost four lengths over Hold Me Up. De Ferran is particularly suited by next week-s two-dog finals.
