Scene Set For Epic Vince Curry Final Clash

THE stage is well and truly set for an epic clash in the rich Group 3 Vince Curry Memorial Maiden Final (520m) at Ipswich next Saturday night.

THE stage is set for an epic final of the Group 3 Vince Curry Maiden (520m) at Ipswich next Saturday night.

“Boom” youngster Black Comanche set the track alight on Saturday night when he scorched away with his semi-final in 30.17.

The Peter Hare-owned, Greg Stella-trained son of Zambora Brockie-Tahlia's Way won by almost eight lengths in a time just .01 outside the maiden class record held by former Group star Pop The Cork.

But, the acclaim for Black Comanche had not subsided before Jedda Cutlack produced yet another of Zambora Brockie's offspring, She's Sweet to win by almost 14 lengths in 30.18.

She's Sweet is Zambora Brockie and Larsie Lou and raced by the Temnick Syndicate from the Tzouvelis family.

The glamour of the final continued when the box draw was conducted soon after and Black Comanche drew the coveted rails.

But She's Sweet drew right alongside him in the two box.

Black Comanche's connections were last to choose their box. They were “left” with the one.

The Vince Curry Final will pit two of the country's most exciting young prospects. Their sections from their semi-final wins are almost identical.

Black Comanche reeled off sections of 5.34, 18.29 and 11.88. She's Sweet went 5.28, 18.36 and 11.82.

Black Comanche's performance was spectacular considering he speared off the track at the first turn and lost lengths.

But, the drama of the Vince Curry did not end there.

In the opening semi, winner Hidden Agenda was vet checked after the race and found to be injured. He was given a five-day stand down.

The first available day to trial will be Friday but Racing Queensland has a rule that prevents greyhounds competing within 24 hours.

Group 3 Vince Curry Maiden (520m) in box draw order: 1 Black Comanche, 2 She's Sweet, 3, Hidden Agenda, 4 King Cole, 5 Shipwreck, 6 Barefoot Rebel, 7 Tiki Bar, 8 Hara's Herbie. Reserves: 9 Hara's Skye, 10 Hara's River.
