Sennachie Locked In For Australian Cup Tilt

CHAMPION sprinter Sennachie will go on to the Group 1 Australian Cup in February before any decision is made about his long-term future.

Trainer Steve White said this today of the great son of Fernando Bale and Rhonda Rocks.

The Australian Cup series, worth $250,000 to-the-winner, will be run across three fantastic nights of racing from February 15 to 29 at The Meadows.

On February 15, Sennachie will tackle the Group 1 Temlee before progressing through to the second week of the Australian Cup.

Sennachie, 11 days shy of his third birthday, brought his racetrack tally to 18 wins and eight placings from 32 starts when he demoralised Feral Franky and Good Odds Harada in the Group 1 Gold Bullion at Albion Park on January 10.

The dog was to fly home from Brisbane last week but an airport mix-up with greyhound crates saw him stay in Queensland with Mick and Selena Zammit.

White, who has already bred and raced Hall of Famer Paua To Burn, is unable to contain his awe for Sennachie.

“He's got everything,” he beamed.

“Conformation, such an incredible nature, fabulous looks, the pedigree, and he's from a fabulous litter.”

And he is a triple Group 1 winner of the Gold Bullion, Maturity Classic  and Brisbane Cup.

Add to that victories in the Group 2 Queensland Derby, Group 3 Golden Ticket and a second in the Group 1 Silver Chief.

“And, he has run the three fastest times ever over 520 metres at Albion Park,” said White.

“And don't forget he beat Feral Franky in that match race on Melbourne Cup night running 29.26 faster than Whiskey Riot ran to win the Cup itself later in the night.

“At this stage, we will head to the Australian Cup with him and make some decisions after that.”
