Shima Shine Heads Silver Chief Betting

AUSTRALIA's best young male sprinters will be vying for a spot in next week's Silver Chief Final when eight heats are run at The Meadows on Saturday night.

IF Saturday night's heats of the Feikuai Greyhounds Group 1 Silver Chief go according to script, we are set for a crackerjack final to see in 2020 on Saturday week.

Six of the eight qualifiers at The Meadows this Saturday night see odds on favourites going about their business in a bid to qualify for the $100,000 to-the-winner finale.

Heading all-in betting at $5 with bookmaker Beteasy for the age-restricted classic is the Andrea Dailly-trained Shima Shine, the son of Barcia Bale last seen when a gallant second to Campini in a heat of the Group 1 Melbourne Cup in November.

Winner at 11 of his 16 appearances, Shima Shine has drawn box four in heat three on Saturday night, his only previous appearance at the track a desperately unlucky sixth to Get It Gizmo in the Group 1 Topgun.

The opening heat on Saturday night sees the first of the odds-on favourites line-up with Hobart Thousand finalist Tiggerlong Tonk a raging hot favourite from box one for Correy Grenfell.

Blessed with searing early pace, the son of Dyna Double One boasts a fantastic record at The Meadows and is expected to make light work of the opening heat from the gun draw.

Heat two sees the Luckie Karabitsakos-trained Hard Style Rico take his place from box five, the son of Bella Infrared going into the series fresh off a dazzling 29.67 victory at the track last weekend.

The fourth qualifier sees Angela Langton's Ballarat Cup winner Western Envoy drawn in box three, the Melbourne Cup runner-up ideally placed back to his own age group.

Coming right back in class from his recent assignments, it's expected the son of Kinloch Brae will progress through to the final on the back of an outstanding record at the track.

Heat six sees the first of Dave Burnett's big guns step out with Simon Told Helen almost unbackable odds from box one.

Already a three-time group race winner after just 13 race track appearances, the last start Queensland Derby winner is expected to progress through to next week's finale with a minimum of fuss, while in heat eight, his brother Who Told Stevie will need to offset box six.

An electrifying 29.65 winner at The Meadows in October, Who Told Stevie is currently around the $1.65 mark in betting and with any luck whatsoever in the early stages should prove far too classy for his opposition.
