PRODIGIOUS talent Shima Shine has been ruled out of the upcoming Group 1 Temlee and Australian Cup series.

The hugely talented chaser has only been scarcely seen since almost coming to grief in the Group 1 Topgun at The Meadows last October.

Going within a whisker of crossing to the lead in the invitation only event, the son of Barcia Bale, second to Good Odds Harada in the Million Dollar Chase, got pole-axed heading through the first turn, putting paid to his chances.

"He really hasn't been right since the Topgun … it's been one little thing after another," said owner/breeder Dave Gleeson.

"He came out of the Topgun with a lot of general soreness; he won a prelude of the Melbourne Cup the next week but only went 29.51, he won his first start at Sandown in 29.20 when he hadn't seen the place.

"Anything he's done since the Topgun has been on heart alone and shows just what a great chaser he is."

Last seen when sixth in the final of Group 1 Silver Chief at The Meadows earlier this month, Gleeson said trainers Andrea and Tom Dailly plan to take stock with the Ballarat record holder and iron out any issues.

"We've got some ideas as to what the problems are so we'll get to the bottom of those before we see him race again," Gleeson added.

In the past 48 hours Gleeson has been grappling with his own health issues which landed him in hospital after taking a turn.

"I'm a bit like the dog at the moment; there's some issues the doctors need to get to the bottom of but I'm in the right hands.

“My blood pressure went through the roof."
