Slashing Trial Has Orchestrate Set For MDC

QUEENSLAND'S Group 1 star, Orchestrate, has been given a strong lead-up into the Million Dollar Chase qualifiers (520m) at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

Orchestrate (Barcia Bale-Speculate) comes out of box five in the third qualifier and meets, as expected, a tough field eyeing a million dollar pay day.

Breeder and owner, Tom Kinnear, said his star galloper had been in Sydney for a week and a half with Jason Magri preparing for his MDC tilt.

FIELDS AND FORM WENTWORTH PARK SATURDAY

“Tony (Brett, the dog's trainer) sent Orchestrate to Jason to give him a couple of looks at Wenty before this week's qualifiers,” said Tom.

“He had a box to box at Wenty last Tuesday week, and then went back for a post to post after the race meeting on Saturday night.

“Jason and Tony have been very happy with the dog and it has given him two good looks at Wenty's first turn.

“They were really happy with the way he went in both trials.

“The post to post time was 23.89 and he still didn't handle that first turn as good as we would want.

“This being the third time there on Saturday night we expect him to be right now.”

Orchestrate comes into the series with 22 wins in 42 starts and earnings of $550,000.

He was devastating when winning the G1 Brisbane Cup at Albion Park beating kennelmate Just A Sort in 29.65 running a first section record.

He then chased home Good Odds Cash in the State of Origin on July 14 and has not started since.

“The five is not ideal, but he is a good beginner,” said Tom. “But, he will need to hold out Photo Man who is a good beginner and will be charging over at the first turn.

“We need to be inside Photo Man around that first turn.”
