GRAFTON has been given the green light to start trialling at their new $5 million track on Friday much to the joy of local owners and trainers.

GRAFTON has been given the green light to start trialling on Friday.

The newly renovated $5 million complex was delayed when a soft surface inside the running rail was found from the 600m boxes to the 450m boxes.

But club president John Corrigan said Grafton was inspected on Wednesday by Dean Deagan (GWIC steward), Wayne Billett (GRNSW) and David Eager (UTS) and given the all clear.

“Trials will now be held on Friday morning and Monday morning of next week,” Corrigan said.

These two trialling days will lead into Wednesday next week when GWIC comes up to stage clearance trials.”

Corrigan said anyone wanting to trial on any of those three days should contact him to book.

“We were always confident we could fix any problem,” he said. “It was a slight hiccup and we are all systems go now.”

“Slight Hiccup”: Grafton Trials Rescheduled

GWIC clearance trials at Grafton have been put back a week after a “loose surface” under the running rail from the 600m boxes to the 450m boxes was found on Sunday.

Club president, John Corrigan, confirmed the slight hiccup to resumption of racing at Grafton after the almost $5 million refurbishment.

The club had hoped to run trials on Tuesday before GWIC came north to run official clearance trials on Wednesday.

“A representative of GRNSW was here yesterday to inspect the track and was concerned about the loose surface under the running rail from the area near the 600 metre boxes around to the 450 metre boxes,” said Corrigan.

“We have already taken measures to have this fixed and are confident we will be able to run trials either Thursday or Friday.

“We have rescheduled the GWIC clearance trials for Wednesday of next week.”

Corrigan is confident the delay is a slight hiccup at most and said trainers should contact him on Wednesday in regards to trialling later in the week.

Grafton is set to resume racing on June 14.
