Striker Light Whelps To Black Magic Opal

SUPERSTAR group 1 winning race bitch Striker Light has produced three dogs and one bitch in her first mating to Black Magic Opal, reports David Brasch.

SUPERSTAR race bitch Striker Light has produced three dogs and one bitch in her first mating to Black Magic Opal.

Owner George Farrugia is the “proud father” of the KC And All-Pretty Fancy bitch who won 30 races and earned $703,000 in stakes in a wonderful, wonderful race career.

She won the G1 Easter Egg, National Futurity and Temlee and was second in another Egg and third in the Sapphire Crown.

But, she was also a finalist at G1 level in the Paws, Temlee, Adelaide Cup, Topgun, Melbourne Cup and Perth Cup.

Most breeders, owners, trainers would be happy with a finals berth in just one of the above Group 1 races.

The Black Magic Opal-Striker Light pedigree George has designed is “special” with a 3×3 duplication and balance of Brett Lee in a position proven to produce greats like Token Prince, Worth Doing and Brett Lee's own sire Gun Law Osti.

“Mum and pups, all good,” said George.

Try buying any one of them … not likely!

THE “mail” from WA is that last year's Group 1 National Sprint winner West On Augie will continue to race on, but that semen has recently been collected from the dog.

The son of Fernando Bale-Te Amo was injured when last in the WA final of the National Sprint a few weeks ago and trainer Chris Halse sent him to Victoria for “repairs”.

And while in Victoria, semen was collected for the dog in a bid to have it ready when he retires, sooner rather than later.

He has won 37 races and $432,000 in stakes.

By the champ Fernando Bale, his dam Te Amo was G1 class on the track.

With Cosmic Rumble as his damsire, Augie is destined to be a powerful stud dog influence in the future.

STEVE Beck and his fellow syndicate members have mated royally bred She's A Sort to exciting young stud dog Aston Dee Bee.

She's A Sort (Fernando Bale-Jetta's Girl by Surf Lorian) raced 25 times for 10 wins and nine placings for $31,000 in stakes. She won at Albion Park in a fast 29.82.

Her littermates include Burn The Jetta (16 wins, $24,000), Jetta Knight (13 wins, $25,000) and Ticket To Paris (11 wins, $31,000) etc. Ticket To Paris was a finalist in the G2 Lismore Gold Cup.

Their dam Jetta's Girl won 18 and ran 13 placings and broke the Ipswich 431m track record and was third in the G3 Gold Coast Cup.

Her sister Pearl Za Zinger (8 wins, $36,000, finalist G2 Qld Futurity)has become the dam of Slick (25 wins, $216,000), Rather Dapper (9 wins, $90,000, G2 Qld Derby) and Aza Zeus (17 wins, $69,000). Slick was four times placed at G1 level.

The mating to Aston Dee Bee will recreate the Goddess Of Fire/Awesome Assassin cross found in Fernando Bale's great littermates Poke The Bear and Out Of Range.

BETTY Keene's wonderfully consistent race bitch Liberty Lee has just been mated to exciting young stud dog Zambora Brockie.

Wow, wasn't Liberty Lee something else on the racetrack.

The daughter of El Grand Senor-Liberty Moon (by Bit Chili) raced 100 times for 36 wins and 30 placings earning $94,000 in stakes.

She was a multiple winner at Wentworth Park but also won at The Gardens, Maitland and Gosford and was an incredibly sound and consistent performer.

She is the standout of her mother Liberty Moon's progeny, but Liberty Moon also produced Rev Fred Sloy (by Banjo Boy) the winner of 16 races so far and $58,000.

This is a wonderful female family and Betty can certainly be expecting some quality performers from the mating to Zambora Brockie whose first progeny to hit the racetrack are showing great ability.

Awesome Glow, the second dam of Liberty Lee, is a sister to Awesome Opal the dam of champion Black Magic Opal.

Betty has certainly thought out her pedigree match for Liberty Lee.

Black Magic Opal's multiple Group 1 winning son Lightning Frank has a duplication of the Thai Magic family.

And, Zambora Brockie is also from this direct female family.

Well done Betty!

PETER Mosman winner Velocity Liberty has been mated to Aston Dee Bee and is due any day.

Velocity Liberty (Fernando Bale-Velocity Sofia) won eight races and was placed 17 times for $102,000 in stakes. She was a brilliant race bitch with amazing early pace.

Steve Williams, up at Hervey Bay in Queensland, bred and raced the bitch and she is yet another G1 star he has raced.

Chasing her home in her G1 Peter Mosman victory were the likes of My Redeemer, Beast Unleashed, Two Times Twice and Zipping Falcon.

The mating to Aston Dee Bee was always one to be chosen for her to recreate the Poke The Bear/Out Of Range pedigree bringing in the full relations Goddess Of Fire and Awesome Assassin.

THOSE interested in pedigree design should take a close look at the make-up of a couple of recent Angle Park winners, Boscono and Coorong Lucy.

Boscono (My Bro Fabio-Beauty Bale by Bartrim Bale) has an amazing pedigree.

She is in-bred 3×3 to the litter brothers Where's Pedro and Hallucinate.

But, she also carries a 2×3 cross of the half relations Turanza Bale and Ambrosia Bale who are both out of Daishi Bale.

Coorona Lucy (Worm Burner-Molly Be Nimble by Nitro Burst) is another with an incredibly in-bred pedigree.

Sire Worm Burner (Oaks Road-Little Looper) is a half brother to Hope's Up (El Galo-Little Looper) the second dam of Coorong Lucy. They come into the pedigree 1×2.
