Super Saturday: Big Moves In MDC Landscape

GET It Gizmo was the big mover in betting for the TAB Million Dollar Chase after powering away with the Ladbrokes Gardens qualifier in a scorching 29.25 on Saturday night.

Firming from $21.00 into $12.00 for the October 18 $1 million to-the-winner finale, Get It Gizmo was simply sublime for trainer Jason Mackay, defeating Federal Lilly by 4 ¼ lengths.

Third was Miley Nismo while fourth was inaugural MDC winner Mystic Riot, the quartet booking their semi-final spots at Wentworth Park on October 11.

On the Riverina at Wagga, the Brian Smith-trained Ultimate Speed booked his MDC ticket with a pulsating 29.93 success over Victorian star Black Opium.

Making full use of the rails alley after kennel-mates Deliver and Black Opium came together at the first turn, the Smith-trained son of Fabregas was strong to the line to defeat Black Opium by 1 ¼ lengths, with fellow Victorian's There's A Catch and Perfect Marshall also locking in semi-final berths, finishing third and fourth.

At Wentworth Park, $9.00 Million Dollar Chase favourite Feral Franky stepped out as favourite for Ray Smith in the fifth event, the son of Collision landing a last stride victory over Paws Of Thunder hero Buck's Future in 29.74.

Having his first start since disappointing somewhat in the Speed Star at Sandown on September 15, ‘The Feral' found the line at the right time on Saturday to cap off his Million Dollar Chase preparations.

In the last event, star Victorian youngster Shima Shine overcame a slow beginning to score by 1 ¼ lengths in 29.93.

A blistering Bulli final winner of the Million Dollar Chase, defeating Pindari Express who is expected to line-up at Wentworth Park this Wednesday night, Shima Shine was ultra-impressive at the weekend, confirming his MDC preparations are well on track.
