Third Breeders Classic Title In Reach For Englund

WYNBURN Marshall will be aiming to take his form to another level when he exits box six in Thursday's Breeders Classic Final (461m) at Hobart.
PROMISING youngster Wynburn Marshall will be aiming to take his impressive form to another level when the Wynyard-trained chaser exits box six in Thursday night's Breeders Classic Final (461m) at Hobart.

Ben Englund will prepare two runners for the final courtesy of exciting litter mates Wynburn Marshall and Wynburn Skye, sons of Fabregas and Wynburn Toozie.Wynburn Marshall is the $2.50 favourite for the final after a slick 26.30 winning performance last week, defeating Coober Can by 1-1/2 lengths from box seven.

The run by this hugely talented pup convinced trainer Ben Englund that there is still more improvement to come.

“I am happy with how Wynburn Marshall has raced so far – the more racing he gets the better he seems,” he said.

“Both this pup along with his sister Wynburn Skye have shown plenty of promise. With no heats for this series we've been putting in the miles on the road coming from the north-west to trial them in preparation for the race.

“They both have a big future for sure and continue to tick all the boxes for being a race dog.”

‘Marshall' is certainly bred to run out of the well-performed Wynburn Toozie, a litter-sister to former Hobart Breeders Classic winner Wynburn Alpha, winner of 11 races in Tasmania, a litter which Ben bred with his father Tom Englund.

Englund is hoping for a forward display from both Wynburn Marshall and Wynburn Skye in the $7,050 feature.

The Wynburn Racing Syndicate are no strangers to winning a Hobart Breeders Classic chasing their third victory, having won previously with Wynburn Witness (x Magic Sprite) in 2015 and Wynburn Alpha (x Where's Pedro) in 2016.

“I do think if Wynburn Marshall can step away well he should find the lead and Wynburn Skye has her perfect box draw, there are a few runners in the race that look to cause a headache but Red Card Reggie (box 4) looks the danger.”

The Hobart Breeders Classic Final is race five on Thursday night's program and is scheduled to jump at 9.05pm.

Ben will also focus on interstate racing in Queensland on Thursday night with Wynburn Sheean racing at Albion Park in preparation for the Group 1 Sky Racing Brisbane Cup which gets underway on July 1.

Under the care of trainer Tony Brett, the son of Aston Dee Bee is looking to land his first win over the 520-metres at his second Brisbane start following an unplaced effort behind Handsome Prince last week.

The dual group race winner has drawn box four in a 4/5 grade event (race 5) over 520-metres as the $1.50 favourite.

“Speaking to Tony (Brett) last week the dog just needs a few runs to settle the nerves, all reports indicate Wynburn Sheean has pulled up well and last week's run was a case of putting a line through it and moving on,” Ben said.
