EIGHT heats of the Group 1 Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg (520m) are slated for decision at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

The first four across the line in each of the eight qualifiers will progress to Saturday week's semi-finals.

FIELDS AND FORM WENTWORTH PARK SATURDAY NIGHT

Heat 1

Absorbing first heat of the Golden Easter Egg where like each of the qualifiers the first four across the line will progress to week two. Going with ISLE'S ENTITY (7) to salute. Went within half a length of qualifying for the Million Dollar Chase Final last year and in recent months has been in sublime form. Will need to come out running to lead but if she does will give backers a fantastic sight. Reigning The Phoenix winner SCHILLACI (3) comes into this off a four week gap between his races which is a plus. Trialled really well at WPK and is drawn to get a gun run. Really interesting runner is FERNESS (2). Drawn well and showing he's a real dog of the future it's just a matter of whether this is all a bit too soon. SHIMA CURRENT (4) has a motor – just concerned about the lack of Wentworth Park experience.

Heat 2

Arguably the most anticipated appearance of the night with high priced purchase MACKENNA (8) to step out. Created huge headlines when trialling 29.32 at Wentworth Park in the lead up to last year's MDC. Been trialling brilliantly and strikes a most winnable heat. Danger? If MORTIFIED (2) can find her best she's obviously a force to be reckoned with but recent form is a major query. Perhaps the better draw inspires a better performance. Richmond Oaks winner SHANGHAI SUZIE (6) is firing on all cylinders and can't be dismissed either. This heat looms as a battle of the girls.

Heat 3

We see the pre-post series favourite step out here in TIM ZOO (6) but he hasn't been done any favours for his Wentworth Park debut drawing box six. Yet in saying that he's drawn arguably the easiest heat so the Australian Cup winner is the one to beat. But $1.80, no thanks. At the each-way odds, happy to go the way of BLACK TSUNAMI (8) which may just get the breaks from eight. Yet to miss a place in six Wentworth Park appearances. CINDY KEEPING (3) ran a fast 29.64 last start to put herself into the frame while ZIPPING CALEB (5) is a must for exotics as well.

TIPS: 8,6,5,3

Heat 4

Loom as one of the more competitive heats of the program where the big question mark is ZIPPING REMUS (1). Hasn't raced for a month or won a race this year but at his best this Group 1 winner is electric. Do we get the best of him from the rails? By all reports he's trialling great and I'm going his way. SUPERSTAR ETHICS (2) is hugely gifted but this is an exponential rise in grade and pressure so I'm prepared to wait and see how he negotiates that first. Draw a huge advantage to his claims. Really keen to see what we get from ALL NATURAL (7) which has been in sensational form. Only defeat in last 11 starts was a nose second to Morton in the Group 1 Gold Bullion. He's class with a capital C and if he wasn't a brother to Jay Is Jay would be a superstar in his own right.

TIPS: 1,7,2,5

Heat 5

Impossible not to be taken by ZIPPING MEGATRON (7) in recent weeks with explosive winning performances. Goes to group 1 level for the first time but does have a tricky box seven draw to overcome which means the short quote is some reservation. At the double figure odds I'm happy enough to spruik ultra smart Victorian SWINDLED (5). Efforts in the Bulli Gold Cup were top shelf and has shown enough on the two-turns as well. Perth Cup runner-up MEPUNGA SHINE (4) creates plenty of intrigue but his claims have been done no favours drawing outside prolific big race performer EMBRACE (3) which is never out of calculations.

TIPS: 5,7,3,4

Powerhouse NSW sprinter Zipping Megatron (1)

Heat 6

Looks a heat where box draws will play a huge role and with the benefit of the gun rails draw I'm with National Derby winner HISTORY'S COMING (1). Expecting sparks to fly early between him and NAD AL SHEBA (3) with the draw advantage the deciding factor. The big query runner is ONE HOt BANDIT (8). Loves Wentworth Park and loves box eight and is a huge watch first up for two months. AUGUST BOB (6) another in tip top form but will need to overcome the tough draw with an abundance of speed to his inside.

TIPS: 1,3,8,6

Heat 7

Established group race winners NANGAR LARRY (7) and GO BEARS (8) up against the raw emerging talent of ANGEL SHIRLEY (3). That's the tale of this heat. Was hard to not be impressed by Paws of Thunder placegetter NANGAR LARRY'S come from behind win last weekend and the Bulli Cup hero looms as a major player for the series. GO BEARS (8) drawing the carpark does him no favours and dare say connections will be more than happy just to qualify round two with victory a bonus. Is ANGEL SHIRLEY (3) up to it? It's a big ask but trained by one of the best in the business and what she does have is upside. For mine, the value runner is IRINKA DANIEL (4).

TIPS: 7,3,6,8

Heat 8

MY HEPBURN (4) ran a courageous second in the Paws Of Thunder in January and the $9 currently on offer for her on Saturday night appears overs to my eye. Can lead for a long way and should be all the better for last week's hit-out. ALPHA ZULU (6) from the all conquering Jason Thompson kennel and has obvious claims given his body of work in group races. Box six however does make it a taller order. Dual Cup winner NANGAR JIM (8) looks drawn to order out in box eight and looks the early speed along with My Hepburn. Winner at five of his six starts when wearing the pink rug and this race does appear to map nicely.
